The King High Killer – (Chapter: Chapter 10, Ten Little Indians)

Spencer, very familiar with the hospital seeing as her mother worked their before her death and now her aunt was a nurse, lead them down several maze-like hallways heading for the back loading dock.

Both girls were tired, but the impending realization that they’d be very much alone for the rest of the evening/early hours, kept them quite and too nervous to notice what was going on around them. Victoria Marks wasn’t paying attention either. She had been fast asleep when she got the call from the sheriff’s station requesting that she head into the morgue to meet with a few FBI agents.

When the redhead rounded the corner, rubbing her eyes, she slammed right into a thoroughly distracted Ashley Davies—who was too busy checking out the blonde beside her—and dropped several files she was holding.

“Oh! I’m sorry.” Victoria apologized, steadying herself against the wall she just careened into before she bent down to pick up her fallen files.

“It’s okay.” Ashley mumbled, massaging her sore shoulder that had already taken a beating earlier that night. The coroner froze when she noticed who she’d bumped into and her eyes quickly darted to the blonde.

“Spencer Carlin and Ashley Davies.” Victoria said, a small grin spreading. After deputy Tom Alterire told the redhead the two girls’ theory, the coroner did a little digging of her own and realized just how obvious it was. She didn’t dare share with Alterire.

At the mention of their names, both Ashley and Spencer looked at the woman curiously. “Yeah? Who are you?” Ashley asked suspiciously.

They might have been four years older, but Victoria recognized both girls instantly. Almost everyone in Trumbull remembered the two horrible car accidents, only days apart, that took Paula Carlin and Raife Davies. But because Victoria was just starting out as a coroner, she knew the story better than most.

Her predecessor hadn’t allowed Victoria to actually work on the case—explaining that even she wasn’t ready for the gruesome remains of the two departed—but she studied her boss’ examine paperwork obsessively.

“I’m Victoria Marks, I’m Trumbull’s head coroner.” She shook both girls’ hands and offered another small smile, this one with a little sadness. She couldn’t imagine losing a parent like that. And now she knew the girls were investigating the King High Killer case; they must have had a lot of unfinished business with their losses.

    1. dun dun dun! another fantatic chap stix! I was hoping ash and spence would’ve used their closet time to really express what they feel for each other but hey it worked out anyway, at least they didn’t really get mad at each other in this chap. I loved the way spence was so concerned when ash told her about almost being hit by the car, that was so great. and are you serious? you’re almost done with this?? =( ahh well it’s definitely worth all the suspense and angst! excellent job, can’t wait to find out what they just found out in the files aobut their parents. pms please!!

    2. mmmm. thts all i can say. amazing. theres so much stuff going hand in hand. i personally think the killer is christine and the protege is paula. guess i’ll have to find out. and u being a naughty girl ;) shame shame. lol PMS!!

    3. That was an awesome update. I want to know what happened to their parents that would cause a reaction like that. Its just wow. I bet they will figure out who the killers are. I missed this story I am glad you updated. Spence is so going to come out to Ash because you just can’t leave feelings like that hidden forever. Well her mouth may not speak them but her hands are eager to show. Haha. Well I hope everything is going good with you and I hope you post soon. -jess

    4. brat!! if paula and raife didn’t die in a car accident i’m going to be very upset and i’m also still convinced that paula and raife are the killers. and i haven’t ruled out arthur yet…hmmm…oh and whatever happened to the girl that was trapped and restrained by the killer a few chapters back…perhaps that’s christine and that’s how they got into ashley’s house…oh yes, my wheels are spinning and you can’t convince me otherwise. ughhh i don’t know what to make of everything, i need to re-read the story in it’s entirety and take notes. but it was a splendid update that i thoroughly enjoyed reading and i think that you should write the rest of it right now. ha, isn’t it great that i have my username back? i bet you just missed all of my demands and unreal expectations. i sure missed emmmm :-)
