The Happiest Place On Earth – (Chapter: Awake)

Spencer immediately knew there was someone in her bed, but it took her a second to remember who. And why. And what. As in, what they had been doing right before they fell asleep. She smiled then and was thirsty for the memory, taking a minute or two to drink it in. A honeyed silence seem to settle in the room and Spencer felt it crystallize around them both. She raised her head slightly and squinted at her clock, the red letters screaming through the thicket of Ashley’s hair. 3:45. She felt wide awake, but Ashley was clearly still out cold. Spencer lifted a stray arm and let it fall, an unknowing projectile. Ashley snorted, sighed, and turned slightly, so the moonlight streaming in slashed across her shirtless chest in a new pattern. Ashley, still sleeping, drew her knee up and let it fall absently, so that it left a gulf of sheet between her knees. Spencer stared. She was still completely naked, and Spencer couldn’t believe this had just happened by chance. Ashley was a great actress, and a great manipulator, and Spencer was innocent and didn’t get the kind of thoughts that were playing vividly in her mind’s eye just out of the blue.

Spencer leaned in to Ashley’s face, slower and slower, closer and closer, expecting her lover to grab her and tease her for being so gullible, but it never happened. She actually might be sleeping. Spencer blew softly on Ashley’s forehead, as softly as possible, a river reduced to a stream, reduced to a tiny brook of air. She ducked away as Ashley smacked herself in the forehead at the feeling. Still nothing. Well, Spencer thought, when life gives you an open door, it’s up to you to walk through it. And then eat out your sleeping girlfriend.

Spencer shimmied down Ashley’s prostate body. This seemed wrong. If this was a movie shown in health class, and it was at a frat party, with a guy and a girl, even the whole hetero-class would be doodling uncomfortably, not wanting to watch, that’s how wrong it seemed. This shouldn’t make her wet. But it did. Spencer stayed perched above Ashley’s body, evaluating ethics, until she thought she heard Ashley say something. She leaned closer until she could feel Ashley’s breaths like a gentle wave on her ear and then she heard it again.
