The Anwsers too my Prayers – (Chapter: Chapter 5)

“Um, YEA! I love sweet tea. And the snacks look great too.” Ashley said as she began to help Spencer organize the snacks on the small coffee table that looked as though it had seen better days. “So, what’s up with Jay calling me ‘Auntie Ashee’?” She asked as the two girls settled back down onto the couch, except this time, Spencer sat on the larger couch with Ashley. When Ashley realized this change of seating arrangement, she felt her breathing becoming a little constricted, her heart beat a little faster, and her stomach doing back flips.

“Oh, I’m sorry about that. Ever since the café, Justin’s been talking about you and calling you ‘Auntie Ashee.’ He’s always saying, ‘Mommy, isn’t Auntie Ashee pwetty? And she weally nice, too. I bet she weally smar’t too just wike you mommy. Auntie Ashee is as pwetty as you Mommy.’ And he just keeps going on and on. He has defiantly taken a liking to you which is unusual because he normally doesn’t take to new people too well. Jay just doesn’t trust easily anymore. Anyway, I can make him stop if you,” Spencer said. She hadn’t really thought about it, but maybe Ashley didn’t want Justin calling her Auntie.

“No! Are you kidding me! I love it! It makes me feel, I don’t know, wanted or needed I guess. I don’t get that from anyone but Sarah so I’m willing to get if from anywhere I can. Don’t make him stop. In fact, I’m going to encourage it. But, I mean, why me? Do you not have sisters or other friends that you’ve had longer to be called ‘Auntie’ instead of me? You know what I mean? We like just met and stuff.” Ashley asked. This is the kind of stuff she wanted to know about Spencer. She wanted to know everything about the young mother and this was looking like a good beginning. “Oh, and why did you say that Jay doesn’t trust anymore? What happened to him?” Ashley felt that if she didn’t ask that now, she wouldn’t ask it later either. This was looking like a good insight into Spencer’s past.

“Well, to answer one question, I do have 2brothers from back home. Well, anyway, I’m sorta close to one brother, the closest in age to me only being 14 months older than me, but I never really see him ever. In fact, I haven’t seen him since before I even knew I was pregnant with Justin. He got into some trouble at home so my parents sent him away to live with my aunt in Colorado. Anyway, so to answer your question, I do have siblings.” Spencer gave the shortest answer possible. Though she wanted to open up to Ashley, she found it a lot harder than she thought it would be.
