    That Girl. – (Chapter: Introduction.)

I’m in college now at UCLA.  I’m on the volleyball team, and I play softball there.  My teammates try to be supportive, but they can’t be.  When we play other teams, I always get the look.  They think I’m horrible, but they just don’t get it.  My heart could have been completely and utterly smashed, and I didn’t want that to happen.  I was protecting myself.

My name is Spencer Carlin.  Like I said, I go to UCLA.  I’m from Ohio, but we moved to LA when I was fifteen.  That is when I feel in love with her.  The relationship was great.  Perfect.  We spent every moment together, and she was amazing.  We spent hours making love when we finally took that step when I was seventeen.  She had been with many people, but I hadn’t even been with one.  And, she waited.  That’s how I knew she loved me.

But, it ended.  For me at least it ended.  I still think about her.  Sometimes I still want her, but I can’t.  This is my senior year in college, and I’m getting by without her.  Her.  Yeah, the girl on every single on of my television channels.  The girl that won’t stop playing on the radio.  The girl on every single magazine in the grocery story.  Her.  Ashley Davies.

After we broke up, she moved to New York.  Apparently she couldn’t be in the same city as me.  Since then, she’s released two CDs.  They’ve sold almost four million copies together.  She has been in a few movies, and I’d say she’s the object of everyone’s fantasy.  She’s gorgeous.  I still find myself listening to her interviews.  I remember when I heard the first one.  It was my sophomore year of college.  That is when she told the story of the girl that had stolen her heart, and that is when they showed my picture to everyone.  That is when everyone started trying to date me.  They wanted to be the one that stole Ashley Davies’ girl, but I remained single.

Because I still love her even if everyone else thinks that I don’t.  One day she’s going to give up on us.  I know it.  But, I guess we’ll see what happens when that time comes.

Glen, my brother, Aiden, my best friend, and I will be attending her concert on Friday.  We’ve got front row seats.  I don’t know what to think.  I already know all of the songs on that album are about me, but I need to see her.  It’s gotten harder to go without her, but I don’t want to prove everyone right.  I guess we’ll see.
