    Author Notes:

    Just read it.

    "Every single one."  She says.

    "How do you write them?"  I ask.

    "Usually I think of something that happened to us.  Like when I wrote Late Night Phone Call it was that night that your parents found out, and I stayed on the phone with you all night.  You just cried."  She smiled. "And, the others I just look through pictures of us."

    "You still have that album?"  I asked.  I gave it to her for her nineteenth birthday, and she put pictures in it since then.

    "Of course."

    "Me too."  I smile shyly.  "When those rumers were out about you and Lisa.  Where those true?"  I always wanted to know.

    "Not even close.  She came after me for a while, but I never went for her."  She said looking down.

    "Why?" I asked.  I don’t know what I was so interested right then.

    "She isn’t you."  She smiled at me, and I smiled back.  Her eyes were locked with mine.  We were interupted by the waiter brining the check.

    She paid even though I tried to pay for my own.

    "I still have three questions."  I said whinning a little.

    "So, ask on the way back to your house."  She said.

    "How come you haven’t showed anyone your tattoo even though they ask every single day."

    "Because it is something special between us, and I don’t want them to see it."  She smiles at me.  She has a script S right under her belly button, and I have an A on mine.  Even though we aren’t together, I guess she’ll always be mine somehow.

    "Ok, do you ever think you’ll give up on us?"  I ask, but I almost immediately regretted it.

    "Never."  She says almost instantly.

    "Ok.  One more.  Do you still wear the ring?"  I asked her. I gave it to her about two weeks before we broke up.  A promise ring.  A promise that I broke.

    She didn’t answer.  She just reached to the necklace that had been tucked into her shirt the whole night.  There it was.  The promise ring hanging from it.  "I can’t make myself put it on my finger since we aren’t together, but I can’t fully take it off."  She smiles at me as we pull up to my house.

    "You’ve still got one."  She says.

    "Do you think we can get back together?"  She asks slowly.

    "Ash.  This is why I didn’t want to come tonight.  I admit it.  When you are around, all those old feelings are back.  I just can’t have them though.  I always end up getting hurt.  Your career was always important, and I know I’m being selfish.  You are just the only person that can completely tear me down."

    "I’m sorry Spence.  I was just wondering."  She said with tears filling her eyes.

    "I know."  She pulled me into a hug.  I pulled back, but she didn’t let go.  She started getting closer, and I panicked.

    "I can’t."  I said.  I got out of the car, and I ran back into my house.  I don’t know what she did.  I just heard her car leave.  I collapsed on the bed, and I cried.  Why is it so hard to love someone?
