    Symptom: Jealousy

     

    Spencer smiled as her insides fell apart. She couldn’t believe what LA was doing to her. Now she had become a ‘2 girls in 1 day’ girl.

    “Arthur.. I didn’t expect you to be here,” Christine said with slight anger.

     

    “Yep! I was just in the restroom. Paula invited me to brunch with you guys so we could all catch up, “ Arthur smirked.

     

    Christine was seething inside. Her last memory of Arthur was when Paula left her bedside to be with him after arguing about what was right and what was wrong. Her heart was pained by Paula’s gesture in bringing her husband. Their brunch was supposed to be their time to work things out. But Paula’s idea of closure was just plain cruel.

     

    “So you still dykin’ it out Christine?” Arthur snapped thinking he was being playful. Arthur hated Christine. All he knew her as was the woman who tried to steal his girlfriend back in college.

     

    Both Christine and Paula were shocked at his comments. Paula even felt the need to help Christine, “Arthur, please. Not now…”

     

    Christine was boiling inside, “Look, Arthur…don’t be mad with me because you could never really satisfy her.” Paula put her head down knowing she had made a mistake.

     

    “Yeah, that’s why she chose me,” Arthur taunted.

     

    Arthur’s words cut into Christine like a knife. She couldn’t believe that Paula would do this to her. She stood up to leave, “Well, Paula I guess you’ve said it all. I came here to make amends and just to be friends. But don’t worry, it’s clear to me now.” Christine stormed out of the restaurant.

     

    Arthur leaned back in his chair as if he had been victorious not even noticing Paula was crying, “Paula, I’m so glad that everyone in our family is straight. Can you imagine if our daughter turned out like that? Whew…I’m glad you came to your senses back then and chose me. Can you imagine what your life would have been like?”

     

    Yes. Paula said to herself disgusted at what she had just caused.

    Lunch time couldn’t come fast enough. Ashley was so excited to see Spencer again. She liked that Spencer was turning her into a girl that cared about things. It was a refreshing feeling for her.
