Super duper crime fighting good two shoes and her badass master criminal. – (Chapter: Ch 2)
We start heading over to the car, where Madison is going to drive us to a diner. I really hate this car. Leave it to Madison to pick a pink convertible. We always meet up at this diner, so we can talk to Arthur. He is the guy that gives us all the information needed to get a job done. I love him. He is like my second father; always knows the right things to say.
“Ashley, why’d you break his heart?”
“I didn’t mean to. I just need more, and he doesn’t have it.”
Chelsea leaned over and put her hand on my shoulder, “don’t worry about it, you’ll find another guy to drool over you.”
“But I don’t want another guy to drool over me.”
Finally! We finally arrived at the diner. I don’t want to hear another thing about Aiden. We all walk into the diner, and we sit at our usual table. We all order our usual meals, and then as usual, poof, there’s Arthur sitting next to me.
“Hello Ashley,” Arthur looked around the table. “Hello DEBS”
“Hello Mr.C”
‘Don’t call me that.”
“How come she gets her own personal hello?” I roll my eyes at Madison.
“Hi Mr. C”
“Hallo Mr. C,” said Chelsea as she spilt some of her coffee on her white shirt. You see, we have to wear the same outfits ever day. Our outfit consists of a white button up shirt, a tie, a plaid blue skirt, and knee high socks. Very sexy huh?
Arthur goes on to steal some of my fries, and he then clicks a button on his wristwatch. A big screen appears in front of us with the face of a blue eyed blonde woman.
“DEBS, this is the infamous Spencer Carlin. She has been spotted back in the states, and it is imperative that we catch her.”
“Wow Spencer Carlin, no one has ever fought her and lived to tell about it.”
“I guess so, maddy,” Chelsea kept wiping the spot on her shirt.
“Who is she?” Kyla took a bite of her burger.
Arthur looks at Kyla, “She is known for having had pulled the biggest upset in our country’s history. She stole the statue of liberty.”
He has to be kidding me. Is this April fools?
“Oh, and she also kidnapped that horse from that one race.” Madison sat up.
“Why is there a hairbrush on screen?” Kyla pointed to the screen.
“She leaves a hairbrush at the scene of her crimes. She has several other crimes, but they are minuscule in comparison to the statue of liberty”
I stare blankly at Arthur. He has to be screwing with me now.
“DEBS, you have to watch over Spencer’s proceedings tonight. She is meeting an assassin for dinner. Her name is Sherry, and we have to know what they are planning. Also, you might notice this man.” Arthur points at the man on screen, “His name is Glen, and he is Spencer’s second hand man.”
*poof*
I look up and gasp. Standing in front of me is Paula, Arthur’s wife and the top of the DEBS chain.
“Ladies, I wanted to wish you luck. Spencer Carlin is no one to fool around with. Don’t die.”
*poof*
She was gone. She’s not much one for the small talk. I looked back up and the picture of Spencer, “What do you want with an assassin?”
Spencer Carlin is sitting at a large desk with Glen standing behind her. Glen turned on a large screen in from of Spencer. On the screen, there was a picture of a woman, and a famous L.A restaurant’s business card.
“Who is this?”
“She’s available and in town.”
“Does she have…”
“Yes, she’s an assassin.”
Spencer looked at the picture, “Call it off.” Spencer stood up and stormed off into her loft.
“What? Why?” Glen followed closely behind.
“I hate blind dates.”
“So? At least you’ll be going on a date, and it’s not blind you know what she looks like.”
“I went on a date.” Spencer said defensively.
“No, you talked with that horse jockey and lied about food poisoning.”
“Well…”
“Come on Spence, you had your heart broken and it sucked. You’ve had enough time to brood over her.”
Spencer walked to her closet.
“Just promise me you’ll be open.”
“Ugh, to what?”
“Open to love!”
