“Or…you could join me and the student body and mingle with us commoners for a little while.”

“Haha…I don’t know Spencer…school dances really aren’t my thing…”

“Why not?”

“Well…for starters…its got the word school in it…so vetoed already…followed by the fact that it’s just a lame excuse for those unfortunate souls who have nothing better to do on a Friday night to say that they actually had a life for five minutes…no thanks…”

“Oh really…those unfortunate souls huh?”

“Yeah.”

“And what exactly were you doing when I called?”

Ashley rolled her eyes.  Sometimes Spencer could be such a pain.  A cute pain…but a pain no less.  There was an innocence about her that Ashley adored, and because of that innocence Ashley quickly learned that Spencer is one of the few people who can take her shit.  Ashley laughed as she answered her.

“Well for your information…I was writing a song.”

“Ohhh soo fortunate…come on Ashley…come down here and save me from this all this boringness…”

Ashley bit her lip as she contemplated her answer.  She got up and paced around a bit before flinging herself onto her bed.

“I don’t know Spence…I mean I haven’t been to one of those things in forever…”

“Well now is as good a time as any…”

And that is how Ashley Davies found herself standing in front of the school gym adjusting her skirt for the millionth time.

“Hey Ash…”

Ashley looked up and smiled at Spencer who looked like a kid who just laid eyes on candy for the first time.  Ashley took one more deep breath before sauntering over to Spencer who was still grinning from ear to ear.

“I can’t believe I’m doing this.”

“Are you nervous?”

“A little…”

Spencer smiled sweetly at Ashley and offered her hand to the brunette.  Ashley hesitated not knowing if taking Spencer’s hand was going to do more damage than good.  Ashley genuinely liked Spencer…and she didn’t want to scare her away by pushing too hard or too fast.  Spencer wiggled her hand in mock irritation.

“Come on I don’t bite…”

“Pity…”

Ashley grinned as she took Spencer’s hand and let Spencer lead her into the gym.  Right before they got to the door Spencer turned to Ashley and smiled once more.

“Ready…”

“I guess…”

“Come on…its just the people from school…”

“Trust me Spence…I’ve seen enough student bodies…”

Ashley mentally kicked herself for that one as Spencer raised one eyebrow but remained silent and led them into the gym.  She hoped she hadn’t said too much…and fortunately from the way Spencer was holding her hand…Ashley Davies thought just this once…she might be in love.
