So Close, Yet So Far Away. – (Chapter: For All My Life.)
I’m sitting here. Lost in the sound of the rain. I know Spencer is behind me because, well, she sits there. Looking around to try and take my mind off her, I notice every one is busy talking amongst each other. Closing my eyes, I take a deep breath. Before I can exhale, I feel someone take a seat next to me. I look over and my mouth immediately falls agape. It’s her. Smiling widely, she speaks.
"Hi."
"Um, hey." Get yourself together, Davies.
"I like that shirt."
Smiling, I look down at my tee. "Thanks." Chuckling, I add, "Though, I’m sure you’ve seen it a million times before."
"I know. I just never get the chance to tell you I like it."
"Right. So what makes today different."
"I’m not sure." She stops to think. "Maybe it’s ’cause of the change of weather." Her full lips curl into a small smirk.
"In that case, God bless the rain!" My hands shoot up in the air, praising the heavens. One for the rain, and two for Spencer talking to me.
"Yeah." She breathes out, sustaning her laugh.
I can’t help but to smile. Just the slightest grin from her is contagious. She makes you want to smile until your face is completely numb. I could smile all day and all night. For all my life. I never get tired of seeing her face light up at those stupid little jokes her friends make. The way it reaches all the way to her eyes. You know its a geinuen Spencer Carlin smile. If you’re lucky enough to get one of those in your lifetime, you’ll be begging for more until the day you die. Just like me.
That’s why I get up ever morning. To come to school and see her. Without her, my life has no meaning. Nothing would be the same. I’ve felt this way for so long, that if she’s not there I feel empty. Alone. She’s become a part of me. My blood. I know part of me is with her. Because I gave her my heart a long time ago. She may not know it, but I do. And every day I pray that she finds it. It’s been with her, but it’s been neglected. It sits in a cornor. Patiently waiting for her. Someday the the day will come. She will find my heart and cherish it, like I cherish every moment with her.
"Hey, you two went to King Middle didn’t you?" Brittney asks, walking up from outta nowhere.
Nodding my head, I keep my eyes on Spencer. While her’s are on Brittney.
"What school have you been going to these past three years?" Spencer says, continuing the conversation. I wish she wouldn’t. I want her to talk to me.
"A private school."
"Oh."
"My parents ran out of money." The brunette laughs. "But I’m glad I came back to your school." She adds with a wink. Oh hell no! She did not just wink at my crush.
"So Brittney," I rudely interupt, "how are you liking this class so far?"
Keeping her eyes on Spencer, she answers. "Well, I’m thinking this class is totally hott." I can feel my anger rising with every word that comes out of her mouth. Ok this has to stop.
"Hey, would you mind-" I’m cut short by the bell. That works too.
Everyone quickly scrambles out of the science room, to meet with their friends. Normally I would be one of the last people to leave, but today I’m one of the first. I don’t want to stick around long enough to see the look on Spencer’s face. I don’t want to know if she liked the flirting or if it freaked her out. Right now, all I want to think about is how I’m going to make her mine.
