Ship of Dreams
I quickly rummaged through the closet to find a dinner dress. (Picture on homepage; link in profile) I finally found one I liked. It was midnight blue, had transparent black sleeves, and had a flower design on parts of the blue satin. I thought it would do well. I quickly took it into the bathroom so I could change while Charlie got into his suit in the bedroom.
After I changed, I checked myself in the mirror. I looked like any second-class lady should. Maybe a bit fancy, and I prayed it would not draw attention to myself. I sighed. I heard Charlie tell me he was done and I could come back in the room when I was ready. I complied and headed out the door. Charlie was leaned over his bag. When he stood up he smiled at me.
“What do you find so funny?” I asked, feeling my temper rise.
“Nothings funny. You just look beautiful. I am going to have to keep a close eye on you tonight.” He joked. I smiled and he held out his arm. I graciously took it as we headed out the door to dinner.
EPOV
I was slowly getting into my tux. I wanted to take all of the time in the world. I was not looking forward to another dinner party. I hate all first-class people. Everyone is always smoking, bragging about his successes in the world, and how wealthy they are. Every man believes that he is a ‘master of the universe’ and every girl thought that her husband was the ultimate master. Not to mention that if a lady crossed me, who was single, they would hang on me all night, trying to get a piece of the Cullen wealth.
I just wanted a fun, sweet, caring woman who did not use me for my money. Of course she would have to be a vampire. For it has never happened, a vampire and a woman falling in love. I just wanted a woman who loved me for me.
But I did not want to end up with a marriage chosen by my family. Normally it hadn’t been that way with us, but I have been alone forever, and I think my family is sick of it.
“Edward!” Alice called. I sighed and looked in the mirror. My hair was pulled back as straight as possible and combed. Not a hair out of place. Extravagant. Just like everything else in my first-class life.
