    Rosalie's Anger

    Stupid human.

I still don't understand what Edward sees in her. Just a frail human, no different from the next. Although, that isn't entirely true. This girl, the one Edward had to leave town for (because she'd smelled so tempting to him), is a danger magnet. Just a few days after Edward came back, a car skid across the ice and nearly crushed her.

That's where Edward stepped in. He just had to stop that car from crushing the human. He just had to almost expose us to the world. How could he be so stupid? So unbelievably, stupidly irresponsible, so vain in his need to stop the twist of fate that just might have taken the weak human out of this world.

It would have been better. Edward would have gone back to normal. He would have forgotten about how the temptation on the first day he'd encountered her was so strong he nearly killed the human right there in Biology. If only he'd let fate take its course, if only he'd let that van squish the weak human into the pavement…

Maybe then we wouldn't have been in this situation. We're being stalked by a nomadic vampire. An angry one at that. Without Bella – I still scoff at her name – it would not have been a problem. We would have acknowleged the trio of nomads passing through, tell them how we lived here and how we intended to keep it a secret.

We wouldn't have been fleeing our home, one of the many "homes" we've lived in through the years, to protect this human. This place, Forks, is the only place we've lived in so far that I've actually felt at home. With the weather, I can go to school. I can appear during the daytime, just like any other teenager. And although I'm more different than any other teenager at Forks High School (save four: Edward, Alice, Jasper, and Emmett), I can actually fit in.

But not anymore. Not with my "brother" falling in love with a human.

How could he be so foolish? A human? The first day of school, he'd almost killed her. And now, he wants to… what? Kiss her?

I shudder at the thought. If only he'd stuck to Carlisle's plan, and fallen in love with me. We'd have been a perfect couple, appearing just as normal as Emmett and I do now. Strange, heartbreakingly beautiful, but somewhat normal. But Edward had rejected me from the start, regardless of my looks.

And now, he was falling in love with a human? If only he'd been smart enough to kill her the first day, when no one would see her gone, when no one could hear her scream…

    If only.
