    It was then I knew who I truly loved and belonged with.

     

                   I felt like there was nobody else in that entire cathedral except for the two of us. It was then that I knew that Ashley was the one I truly loved, that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Ashley and not Aiden I’m afraid. This was it, I couldn’t let my mom push me into being with someone I didn’t love the way I loved Ashley.  Her eyes met mine and I could feel the love between us, and I knew that I couldn’t stand here up on this altar anymore. She was silently telling me to come with her, and that was exactly what I was going to do. I began walking down the altar, and then breaking into the fastest sprint of my life, even though I was in that ridiculous wedding dress. I didn’t hear the cries of the priest, of Aiden, or of my family as I ran straight into her arms. “Spencer.” She whispered. “I love you, Ashley.” I cried into her shoulder. People were starting to rise from their pews, and my mother was yelling, “Spencer! Come back here!” “Let’s get out of here.” Ashley said, taking my hand. She pulled me over to the curb where she had parked, and I ran with her over there and hopped right in her convertible before anyone could catch us. Ashley immediately started her car and drove out of there probably three times the speed limit.

                I let out a sigh of relief once we got on the freeway. At least nobody had been crazy enough to have tried to drive after us. I felt slightly guilty at having left Aiden on the altar. Poor guy. But I couldn’t let my mother trap me into marrying him. I loved him, yes, but it wasn’t the same as what I felt for Ashley. But all that matters now is being with her again. Ashley’s hand rested on top of mine the entire time. “Why’d you come back?” I asked. She smiled. “Well, Spencer, once I stopped being mad at you, I realized that I’d promise you I’d always love you and be with you no matter how bad you screwed things up. And, I knew that if you really loved me, you wouldn’t be able to go through with the wedding. No matter how badly your mom tried to threaten you or force you to. And I was right. As always.” She said, grinning. “I’m so sorry, Ash. I was stupid, scared, and…you still came back for me.” “You really think I’d be dumb enough to let you get away?” she teased. “I love you, Spencer. You’re my everything. Of course I’d come back for you. You should’ve been expecting it.” She said, winking. “So, want to go over to my place?” “Anywhere away from everyone who was at the wedding is good.” I said gratefully.
