    Chapter Fifty

     

    The sounds of the show that Spencer was beginning to dislike continued to play as the trio watched the television. She buried her head into one of the couch cushions and groaned.

     

    “How was I supposed to know that there was a SpongeBob marathon this weekend?” Ashley said throwing her hands up in the air.

     

    Stephanie continued to watch and giggle as the sponge and his starfish friend were chasing jellyfish. She would poke Ashley in her side from time to time to make sure that Ashley didn’t miss any moment.

     

    Spencer stretched her arms and yawned reaching out to stroke Ashley’s brown curls. Ashley let her head fall back against Spencer’s fingertips and closed her eyes.

     

    “Are you ready kids?…Who…” The voice from the television was quickly cut off when Spencer reached for the remote and pushed the power button.

     

    “If I have to hear that song one more time…I swear…” Spencer said squeezing the remote roughly.

     

    “Baby…let’s put down the remote…” Ashley said with a grin. “Here…slowly…slowly…” She said wrapping her hands around the blonde’s and lightly lowering their hands to the table putting the remote down.

     

    Stephanie giggled at the older women and clapped her hands falling deeper into the couch cushions.

     

    “Oh so you think this is funny?” Ashley said looking at the young girl with a teasing smile.

     

    Stephanie giggled and nodded her head at the brunette. Ashley attacked the young girl with tickles and shrieks were now echoing throughout the house.

     

    “You two are so cute…” Spencer said tilting her head and watching Ashley with Stephanie.

     

    Ashley stopped her tickling and looked up at the blonde smiling. “I know…we are sooo cute Steph aren’t we?” She said lightly nudging the younger girl with her shoulder. Stephanie nodded her head in agreement and Spencer couldn’t help but laugh.

     

    “Well I think it’s your bed time…” Spencer said standing up. “Oh and Stephanie’s too…” She said winking at Ashley.

     

    Ashley shook her head and helped the younger girl off the couch. She held out her hand and they began their way up the stairs.

     

    “Ok so Steph…you are going to be staying in here…” Ashley said walking the small girl into the guest bedroom.
