Nothing But A Heartache – (Chapter: Blood and Tears)

Spencer: We don’t know anything yet.

    Chelsea: Did someone break in?

Kyla: The cops don’t think so. There was no damage done to the door. I don’t know what happened. I’m just so scared for Ashley.

    Chelsea hugs Kyla.

Chelsea: Everything going to be okay.

Chelsea pulls Spencer into the hug. The girls wait another half hour and the doctor finally comes in.

    Doctor: Ms. Davies?

    The girls stand up.

    Kyla: How is my sister?

Doctor: She’s going to be okay. We had to take a few x-rays and we found out that she has two fractured ribs. Her left eye is still pretty swollen, but I’m going to have a nurse put some ice on it. We also had to give her a couple stitches on her lip. But there is one other concern I have.

    Kyla: What’s that?

Doctor: Your sister took a very hard hit to the head. The x-ray showed that she has a pretty bad concussion. She’s still not awake yet, but I’m afraid that when she does come to, she is going to have amnesia.

Kyla: What do you mean? Like she can’t remember her name?

Doctor: Well we won’t know the extent of it until she wakes up, but I’m expecting it to be a little worse than her forgetting her name. With a head injury like hers she could wake up and not remember anything about her life.

Kyla: You mean she won’t remember us?

    Doctor: It is a possibility.

Kyla: Well how long do you think it would last?

Doctor: It’s hard to say. Some people recover from it in a week or two, while others don’t recover from it for years. The best thing you can do for her is to treat her just like you normally would. Go about your daily routines and she might start remembering again. I’m going to keep her here overnight for observation, but you can take her home tomorrow.

    Kyla: Can we see her?

Doctor: Only for a few minutes. I don’t expect her to be out much longer, but she still needs her rest.

    Kyla: Thank you Doctor.

Doctor: I’ll show you to her room.

The girls leave the waiting room with the Doctor.

    SPENCER’S POV:

The doctor’s words kept playing over and over in my head. I knew her injuries were bad after seeing her lying on the floor in the kitchen. But amnesia. I couldn’t imagine waking up in a hospital not knowing who I am or who my friends and family are.

When we walked into the room it was so hard to see her lying in that hospital bed. However she did look better than before when she was bleeding. She was still sleeping and I was glad. I still don’t know what happened. The police said it wasn’t a break in. So whoever did this had to be let into the apartment. But who would want to her hurt her like this? I remember the cops kept asking us questions like Did Ashley have any enemies? Did she have someone that had a grudge against her? Was she involved in drugs? Did she- Wait. Drugs.

    Oh my God. Aiden.
