Not Today, Maybe Tomorrow – (Chapter: Chapter 3)
"Whose to say that wouldn’t really work for the theme you have going?" sounding serious I asked, Kyla was really to easy to get to.
"Yeah not gonna happen. Plus most of the other bridesmaids will be there and it’ll be a nice little get together we’ll do lunch that day. What do you think?" I heard through some static on the phone.
I was looking forward to spending that time with Sam and Kyla if she chose to come. The whole bridal party wasn’t what I had in mind. But it wasn’t my day, and Sam made me promise to be nice. So my only response to Kyla is "Of course should be fun, whose coming with us?"
"Well there will be about 5 of us I think. Me, Madison, Claire, Julie, and Spencer if she makes it in on time. I haven’t spoken to her in a few days, when’s the last time you spoke to her?" she asked, while letting me know who was coming with us on saturday.
"I haven’t spoken to her in a couple of weeks. She never really said anything about when she was coming in. We sort of cought each other at a bad time" I answered remembering my last conversation with Spencer.
It was like most other conversations we had. Awkward. Sure we kept in touch, and we were still ‘friends’ but it had never been the same. She had fought so hard to keep me a part of her life that eventually I just gave in. Our conversations now were rushed and we never talked about anything that I wouldn’t tell the person next to me on the bus.
As I got off the phone with Kyla I continued to think about Spencer. She had made some choices while we were younger that had changed our relationship forever. Spencer was once the person that I would try and give the world to if I could, I sure as hell gave her my world. In return I got hers for a short amount of time, but it wasn’t long before she took it back and I was left with the pieces of myself she hadn’t taken. After that it wasn’t the same I couldn’t go back to just being ‘friends’ when I once had all of her. As we grew older it got easier, we don’t see each other as often and when we do it’s in large groups. She’s not the same girl I knew all those years ago, maybe I’m being cynical but it’s how I feel. How I’ve felt since she made her decision.
She still has the same likability and charm she once had, don’t get me wrong. Just in my eyes, that Spencer Carlin everyone’s so crazy about is a giant hypocrite. Someone who couldn’t make up her mind, and more importantly someone I wasn’t looking forward to seeing for the next few weeks.
