North of Somewhere: All Grown Up – (Chapter: Falling…)

    “No!”

“Whoa, you don’t have to yell, ok? It was just a question. Jeez…”

“Spencer, I would really like to have this little reunion another time—sometime when you’re not wasted.”

“What are you talking about? I’m not wasted,” Spencer managed, before collapsing on the floor.

“To have and to hold? To have and to hold what exactly?” Ashley asked, erasing the last line of the vows she had written so far.

Her cell phone rang, and she released a loud sigh of relief for the distraction.

    “Hello?”

“Ashley?” a voice said, the noise in the background making it hard to hear.

“Yeah, this is Ashley. What’s going on?”

    “Spencer’s at the hospital…we had to…to the…because…”

All Ashley could really hear was “Spencer” and “hospital”, but that was all she needed to hear, “Which hospital?”

    “Good Samaritan…”

    “I’m on my way.”

Ashley hung up the phone, grabbed her purse, and was out the door in less than a minute.

The drive to the hospital was awful. All she could do was imagine the different scenarios that led to Spencer ending up in the hospital, each one worse that the former. Knowing her luck, the love of her life would end up hurt or worse—dead—the night before their wedding. By the time Ashley arrived at the hospital, she felt sick herself.

“Hi, my fiancée was just brought here,” she told the woman at the first desk she saw, “I need to know where she is.”

The woman raised her eyebrow suspiciously, “She?”

“Yes, she, and don’t give me any crap right now, ok? I’m worried that something might be horribly wrong and I need to see her as soon as possible.”

    “Ashley!”

She turned around and was suddenly standing in front of Rachel. She didn’t like the way this was going so far.

“Spencer’s fine. She was really drunk and fell. She hit her head, but it’s nothing major…”

“Why the hell was she with you, Rachel?”

“She wasn’t. I mean, she wasn’t with me. We were just talking.”

“What did you need to talk to her about?”

“Listen, Ashley. I’m not trying to take what’s yours. We ran into each other. We talked. That’s it…end of story. She told me she was marrying you tomorrow, and unlike you, when she said she was with someone else I respected you enough not to try to get her back.”

    1. I’m so glad Rachel didn’t mess things up for Spencer and Ashley. Drunken Spencer dancing on a bar sounds pretty enticing. I love this story, it just gets better and better as time goes on. Looking forward to the wedding chapter! PMS

    2. I was so focused on hoping Lindsay didn’t show up that I didn’t even think about Rachel! Thank goodness she didn’t mess anything up. Loved the fluff and all the sweet moments between Ashley/Spencer. I feel like maybe some good stuff is coming up with the wedding.

    5. Can’t wait for the wedding to hear Ashley’s vows after this. She should definitely have inspiration now. Spencer with a bandage and a wedding dress. LOL. Those pictures will be so funny. Ha ha…

    7. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I am in L-O-V-E with this story. It all feels so real. I’m glad that Rachel didn’t cause any uneasiness within Spencer. I could so not take another Spashley break up. I also find it somewhat hilarious that Spencer has to wear a bandage on her wedding day. That’s the kinda stuff that happens to me.
