“Look Ash, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to offend you.” I layed down beside her and removed the sleeping bag from her face, but she continued to stare at the ceiling, so I got real close to her and gave her my best Spencer Carlin pout. “Please don’t be mad.”

At that, Ashley looked over at me and just melted. The pout gets her every time.

“It was just different seeing you so freaked out over a little fur ball, when here you risk your life on a daily basis to take down the criminals of Los Angeles.” I told her honestly then placed feathery kisses on her lips.

“Alright you have a good point, but that raccoon was no fur ball, it was out for me.” The seriousness in Ashley’s tone had me chuckling again, but I cut that short when I got a swat to the butt. “Eh em, you promised no more teasing.”

“Fine, but you should know he wasn’t after you.” I said while holding up an empty jar of peanut butter, which had been licked clean. Ashley went silent at the realization. “Babe, what did I tell you about bringing food in the tent?”

“Uh, right, so anyways I was thinking maybe tomorrow you and I could get our tan on.”

I laughed at her quick change of subject

“Mmm, I like the thought of you in a bikini.” I growled playfully and she just rolled her eyes and then flipped onto her back.

“Wow, look at the starts tonight.” Ashley gazed out of the tent screen above us.

“Beautiful.” I said never taking my eyes off her.

Ashley shrugged my shoulder playfully.

“Stop being so cute and get your ass over here Carlin.”

I scooted closer to the brunette and draped an arm over her waist while resting my head on her chest. We just layed there for a moment silently, in each other’s arms, and took in the stunning night sky.

“You see that star.” She pointed directly above us to the middle of the sky.

“Babe, there are billions of them up there, how do you expect me to know which one you’re pointing to?” I felt her chest heaving as she chuckled at my comment.

“The big one, right there.” She added.
