"She’s acting weird. She’s never that nice to someone she doesn’t know" Spencer begins cleaning up the scattered cards on the bed.

"Then maybe I should get to know her.."

Spencer looks up at Ashley

"Ok. lets go downstairs then." As if she’s trying to prove a point to Ashley. 

They both are walking down the hallway when they hear Paula on the phone.

"Arthur that girl is here, and she looks like one of those punk rock kids, i’m surprised there’s no chain hanging from her nose."

Ashley is hurt. Spencer saw it coming and probably should have helped Ashley avoid it, but she needed to make her realize the kind of person Paula really is, and that person didn’t like the brunette already.

"I think i’m gonna go…" Ashley says as she looks down "Ash, i’m so sorry. My mom is so one-sided sometimes." Ashley cuts her off "Walk me to my car?"

Spencer shakes her head yes they head for the front door and ofcourse Paula sees Ashley leaving.

"Leaving so soon Ashley?"

Ashley looks for the most common excuse in the book. "Yeah, I um.. have to get home."

"Oh well it was nice meeting you." paula says as she sets a smile in Ashleys direction. A smile that says ‘nice meeting you bitch, now get out of my house’ Ashley is no newbie to rejection and gives a blank answer, "Same here, bye."

Ashley walks through the door and Spencer looks back at her mom disgusted. Why is she being so mean?
Paula is smiling and turns around to go back to what she was doing.

"Call me when you get home ok?" She says as she pulls Ashley into a hug for comfort, "I will"

Paula all the while is watching from the window.

Spencer watches Ashley drive off and then walks back in her house to see her mother just standing there.

"What was that?"

"What? I gave her a hug.. is that a problem?"

"It is when it’s her!"

"What is wrong with you! She’s just my friend, and you don’t even know anything about her stop being so fucking judgemental!" 

"Fine! Have your friend. Oh and by the way you’re grounded."

"WHAT?! Why?"

"I don’t need my daughter turning into some rebel and that cursing of yours. stops now!"

Spencer turns her head in shame but also in anger. In a way she regrets what she’s said to her mother but then again Paula was being out of line. The blonde makes her way upstairs to her room and waits for Ashley to call.
