    Damn it! We JUST got back together

    PREVIOUSLY:  Spencer asked her dad if Ashley could spend the night and he said yes. They went to the living room and snuggled together, watching movies.

    A few hours later Paula walked in and saw the two sleep on the couch. For Paula, they were a little to close for comfort. She went upstairs to her room.

    Paula: “Arthur, what’s Ashley doing here!?” he looked up from the news paper he was reading.

    Arthur: “Well hello to you too dear.” he said sarcastically.

    Paula: “Hi, so again…why is Ashley here?”

    Arthur: “I said she could spend the night.”

    Paula: “Why!? Don’t you see what’s going on between them?”

    Arthur: “Sure I do, their friends.” he said nonchalantly

    Paula: “Oh Arthur! It’s obvious they’re more than just friends.”

    Arthur: “What are you talking about? Ashley’s dating Aiden.”

    Paula: “Well I don’t think they’re dating, how can they be dating when she’s always with Spencer? And every time I ask how her and Aiden’s relationship is going, she always says their having problems and they’re going to break up. She wants to be with Spencer, in a more than friendly way.”

    Arthur: “Honey, you worry too much.” he got up and sat her on the bed and massaged her shoulders. “You just had a long day at work and being tired is getting to your head. Just relax and go to sleep.” She went to sleep and ignored her suspicious feelings.

    So everything is going good again, it’s summer break and Ashley is always over, it’s like she moved in, or Spencer’s always at her house, they’re just always together and Paula has noticed. Ashley even has a few of her clothes at Spencers house, for whenever she spends the night. Ashley has gotten use to the family dinners at the Carlin house. So they’re all having dinner and making small talk, and Tara is there. Paula is getting tired of Ashley being over all the time. She noticed the ring on Spencer’s hand.

    Paula: “That’s a nice ring Spencer. Where’d you get it?” she asked between chews.

    Spencer: “Oh…” she looked at the ring. “…a friend from school gave it to me.” The whole table became uncomfortably quiet.


    Spencer’s thoughts: “It wasn’t a lie, it just wasn’t the whole truth.Please, just drop it, please just drop it, please just drop it…” she chanted silently in her head.
