Give Up Forever To Touch You – (Chapter: 12)
Spencer Carlin awoke to a bright light shining down on her. She groaned in annoyance, fighting the urge to wake and begin her day. The blonde tugged her pillow over her face, trying to block out the morning sun. Even on the days I have an afternoon shift I can’t sleep past nine AM. The young doctor chucked her pillow across the room and propped herself up on her elbows, attempting to focus her eyes on her alarm clock. Yep 8:57 … I swear it’s a curse.
Spencer could remember back to her high school years when weekends were spent sleeping in until noon and waking up to a day full of reading on the sun porch of her home. Now, the young doctor couldn’t tell you the last time she picked up a book, well a book that didn’t contain the words ‘diagnosis’ and ‘pulmonary valve’, that is.
The blonde stood up and stretched her arms above her head yawning, the edge of her shirt riding up, exposing her tan flesh. Spencer made her way into the bathroom and took a shower letting the warm water slide down her skin, coaxing her muscles to life. She sang softly, her voice bouncing off the tile walls of the shower stall.
“You can go heavy on me and I will not weigh you down, down, down. You can be steady and clean, I can take it, heavy on me and I will not weigh you down.”
Spencer suddenly remembered the CD from the day before. I should go return it before work. She turned off the water, and stepped out of the shower, toweling her self dry. She tossed on a pair of khaki boy trousers and a turquoise tank top, letting her hair rest damp on her shoulders. Grabbing the CD she made her way out for the morning.
Gordo Music was only two blocks away and she made the journey slowly, basking in the warm glow of the sun. Her shoulders were lined with faint freckles from her childhood; she had always been told they were angel kisses. Arthur always believed that angels were taking care of her and watching over her always. She never believed him though. She assumed not believing was simply a perk of being a doctor, too many bad things happened in the world for her to think otherwise.
