From Spangs to Spashley – (Chapter: Chapter Fifteen)
“The answer is really simple actually,” Ashley responded. It’s different since I’m in love with your daughter. As for her and my past relationships with other girls, Spencer is in a category all on her own. She is really special to me. I know you may not think I may not be good enough for her and maybe you’re right, but I want to be there for her. I want to protect her and take care of her. I want to beat up anyone who bothers her; I just want to be there to face everything with her. I can’t imagine a life without her.
“What about the future?” asked Glen with curiosity. Do you see a future together?
“I work alone, Glen, but you do make a valid point,” Arthur pointed out.
“Actually I have thought about the future for some time now,” explained Ashley. I first thought about our future since we were kids and when Spencer was talking about her first crush in the fourth grade.
“Really?” Spencer said.
“Yep,” replied Ashley with a smile. I didn’t think I would ever have a chance for the future to be a reality with everything that seemed to keep us apart, but it is now. I want to one day marry your daughter. We’ll go buy a house and start out little family and adopt a few kids.
“I never took you as a kid person,” Glen cut in.
“I wasn’t in the past, but I am now,” responded Ashley.
“You do realize that if you hurt Spencer in any way shape or form, Glen and I will have to hunt you down,” Arthur explained.
“I know you, sir, but that is not my intention,” responded Ashley. The last thing I would ever want to do is ever hurt her. I will die before I do that.
“Could we have that written in paper?” Glen asked.
“You’re an idiot,” commented Spencer.
“Here’s how it’ll work, you will have Spencer home by eleven on your dates on a school night,” Arthur began. On the weekends, it may be up to one, but no later. I would also like that you come to have more dinners with us once in awhile. I am used to seeing you as the best friend, not as Spencer’s girlfriend. I already like you better than Spencer’s previous girlfriend who snuck out through the bathroom window during this dinner.
“No one liked Carmen,” stated Glen.
“She wasn’t worth Spencer’s time,” Ashley responded.
“You knew that she snuck out?” said Spencer in disbelief.
“Yep,” Arthur replied. You’re not a very good liar, Spence.
“Is there anything else that I need to know or that you need to tell me?” asked Ashley with curiosity.
“Yes, welcome to the family,” Arthur answered with a smile.
