Forgetting Bella Swan
Jacob and Aubrey sped walked down the hallway. Charlie was in the hospital and Jake was in a rush to get to him. When they arrived he found that his dad, Sue, his pack brothers and the Cullens (with the exception of Bella and Edward) were already there.
"Dad! What's going on? What happened? Is Charlie going to be okay?" Jake asked frantically.
"I don't know, son. They won't tell us anything." Billy answered. Tears were in his eyes. His best friend was in the hospital with severe injuries and no one would tell him how he was. Billy had never felt so scared since Jacob's severe injury three months ago.
"What the hell happened?"
"He got a call about a break-in at the town hall. He went to investigate and someone attacked him in the dark," Carlisle explained. "One of his men found him unconcious and called an ambulance."
"How bad are his injuries, doctor?" Billy asked, his voice cracking.
"Well…his face is swollen and bruised, he has severe lacerations all over his body, his left leg is broken as well as his right arm."
"Will be he alright?"
"Yes, I think so. He hasn't came back to conciousness yet but I'll inform you when he does."
"Good. Maybe he can tell us who did this."
Carlisle's face suddenly became very concerned.
"About that…we all need to talk. Aubrey, can you stay here please?" He asked gently with a small smile.
"Sure." She answered quietly.
"Thank you. Let's go into the conference room."
They all went into the conference room, leaving Aubrey behind. She knew that they knew Noemi must have done this. The fact that they were trying to spare her feelings just made her mad. They all gathered in the conference room and made sure they shut the door.
"It wasn't a human that attacked Charlie. It was another vampire." Carlisle began immediately.
Everyone gasped in shock.
"Who–" Sue began before she was cut off by Carlisle.
"I believe Jacob already knows the answer to that. What did Aubrey tell you?"
Jake felt everyone burning him with their eyes. He didn't exactly want to tell them. He knew they'd go after Noemi. She of course deserved it, but Jake knew killing her would kill Aubrey. On the other hand, she attacked a human, and that was not acceptable.
