First to break – (Chapter: Hell)

I was in hell; sheer, unadulterated hell, and it didn’t help that Aiden seemed to be devoting his full attention to Spencer and Sherry, and wasn’t even talking to me. ME, the one he’d actually come out with that evening.  I sat in a silent huff, wishing someone would pay me even the slightest bit of attention just so I knew that I was still visible to them, and not some sort of ghost that didn’t know it was dead.

As soon as Glen had been introduced to the group, he had captivated Madison to the point she hadn’t stopped talking incessant crap since his arrival.  No longer was she lavishing Aiden with her affection, instead she had taken the leading role in the Glen Carlin Appreciation Society and was making sure that she was the centre of attention all night, often putting a stop to most other conversations that were going on around her.  I hated her.  I hated her so much!

One consolation, that made me grin like a fool, was that Spencer seemed to have grown tired of Aiden’s advances, and was sitting as quietly and bitterly as I was.  The only shame was that Glen had insisted she sit by his side, and that was on the other side of the booth so it wasn’t as if we could even talk to each other without shouting over everyone.

I nudged Aiden, who was sitting to the left of me, hoping it would force him to tear his eyes away from Sherry, who was sitting on the other side of him.  All I’d seen of Aiden for most of the evening was his back and it was making me considerably more angry.

“What?” he asked, finally turning my way once he was satisfied that Sherry was okay being left alone for a second to talk to Madison and Glen, who were at the other side of her.

    “I’m annoyed,” I admitted.

“What? Why?” he asked, obviously not being able to understand why I wasn’t having the time of my life watching King High’s finest/dumbest all talking shit and staring wide eyed at each other.

“Cos tonight was meant to be about us,” I said.  “And all you’ve done is ignore me!”

“That’s so not true!” Aiden said unconvincingly.

    1. I’ll be honest, and say that it doesn’t matter how much butter, considering butter won’t get it written any faster than it takes to pour from my imagination and take shape on a blank page. I do appreciate as much feedback as I an get though ;-)
