Everything And Nothing – (Chapter: The great newspaper dillema)

    “Yes, Dear?”

“Could you please run and get me a paper before Mass?” She asked sweetly. Ben obliged and walked across the room, swiping the keys to his BMW on the way out. A panicked look crossed Spencer’s face but Ashley bumped into her a little bit to let her know to relax. The plan would work. It had to. Both Clay and Glen had come running as soon as they heard the word doughnut. The girls both put on some nicer clothes and Spencer started curling her long straight hair, while Ashley tried to tame her own wild curls. Ashley was still in the bathroom fifteen minutes later when she heard the garage door open and shut loudly.

Through the closed door she could hear the muffled conversation between Ben and Paula. God if you exist, let him be impatient and not to have gone to every place in town.  There was a quiet knock at the door and Ashley pulled her ear away quickly.

    “Yes?” She asked nervously.

“Are you almost ready hon? Church starts in half an hour and we usually get there a little early,” Paula said. Ashley opened the door and stepped out.

“Yeah, I mean, yes maam I’m ready.” Paula smiled and turned to walk back into the kitchen revealing Spencer standing behind her. She’d put on a light blue dress that made her sapphire eyes stand out against her tanned skin. Ashley’s heart jumped at the sight of her and she noticed that Spencer was cuddling Keely in her arms.

“My mom said she was going to fight me for this lovable little monster,” Spencer joked. Ashley smiled and pulled Spencer into the bathroom, locking the door.

“Did she get a paper? Are we dead?” Spencer smiled and kissed Ashley quickly on the lips.

“No and no. Good plan Einstein.” Ashley grinned broadly and threw her arms around Spencer, squashing Keely in between them. The puppy squirmed to get out and yipped excitedly when Ashley grabbed her lifting her high in the air.
