“Well I thought maybe you might’ve changed your mind that happens sometimes, right?” He shoved his hands in his pockets and looked at her.

“Look I’m trying to be nice, but I’m seriously not interested. I’m gay. Which means. You have something that I don’t want. Got that memo now Ken?” She could see the shock on Glen’s face but didn’t care. The jerk had it coming acting like he was God’s gift to women. Just then Spencer returned with a very loopy looking Clay.

“Hey guys. Did you see that hottie over there?” Ashley smiled in spite of her brand new bad mood. Glen looked angry and still a little shocked.

“Ash, is everything okay?” Spencer shot a warning glance at Glen who opened his mouth to answer for her.

“Everything is fine now that Glen and I have all the details of my life hammered out, right Ken?” This time he caught the barbie reference and the anger showed in the red flush on his neck.

“Yeah. We’re good. Let’s get out of here,” Glen led the way and Spencer followed grabbing Ashley’s hand. Looking back to check if everyone was there, Glen’s eyes fell on the two hands together. The look that he gave Ashley could have melted an iceberg.

Once they arrived back at the house, Glen went straight to his room. Rolling her eyes at her brother Spencer pulled Ashley up the stairs. Not five minutes later, Spencer heard footsteps coming up to her room. Expecting to see her mother, she was surprised when she saw Glen.

“Spencer, can I talk to you for a minute?” Spencer looked at Ashley and then back at her brother, following him out into the hallway. He was leaned against the doorframe with his muscular arms crossed in front of his chest. Glen was a handsome boy despite his personality shortcomings.

“What do you want Glen?” Spencer whispered irritated, looking up at him.

“How well do you even know this girl?” Spencer narrowed her eyes. “Tonight she told me that she was gay. That’s so wrong.”

“Okay before I rip into you for that. I would just like to remind you that I can hang out with whomever I want. I understand that you think you’re being a good big brother, but there isn’t anything to protect me from this time. Okay? And being gay isn’t wrong. That’s like saying having brown hair is wrong. So just go to hell if you can’t deal with it and keep it to yourself you know how mom is,” Glen shook his head from side to side as if to clear his head and then threw his hands down to his sides, stomping down the stairs. Spencer turned the door handle to her room and opened the door silently. Ashley was asleep on the bed, her arms tucked behind her head. Spencer stood there for a moment studying her, noticing just how perfect she looked all the time. It had only been a couple of weeks but she felt like she was falling in love with girl who laid in front of her now. Her smile and her laugh, when she got mad and when she even looked sad, Spencer loved it all and the thought scared her. She slipped on a pair of old boxers and slid into bed beside Ashley, brushing a stray hair off her forehead. The other girl stirred slightly, reaching her hand up to interlock their fingers. Spencer kissed Ashley on the forehead and settled in to bed, resting her head on the brunettes shoulder.

“Damn what am I gonna do with myself, already falling in love with you?” Spencer whispered into Ashley’s shoulder closing her eyes. She didn’t see Ashley smile in the darkness, but that’s exactly what Ashley did.
