Don’t Cry Out. – (Chapter: 3. Entanglement.)

“Oh, uh…I was just looking.” She replied, still blushing in an embarrassed manner as she looked back down at the contents of the display case.
The man behind the counter nodded knowingly with an understanding smile on his face. “Thinking a lot?” It almost wasn’t a question – like he knew, for a fact, that she was thinking a lot. This man could read minds.
Spencer nodded. “Yeah. Sorry about that.”
The bearded baker shrugged it off easily, as if it were nothing at all – a normal, everyday routine. “We all have our days.” He stated simply. He didn’t specify what kind of day, which meant that he was clever enough not to assume anything that he didn’t know for sure. Spencer, however, wasn’t sure how to reply to that, and just nodded. After a moment, the man spoke again. “Coffee? On the house. I want to make some for myself and my lone baker in the back, but I don’t want to waste a whole pot.” He winked at her, heading for the grounds, and she couldn’t help but crack a smile.
“Sure.”
She made her way to a table that was close to the counter, so that she wouldn’t feel awkward standing around pointlessly as she waited for coffee she didn’t pay for. She immediately liked this place, simply because of the bearded man that stood behind the counter with a warm smile and a pot of coffee, and wondered why it had taken her so long to find it.
Then, she again remembered Ashley. She was the reason she’d come to this place, anyway. Spencer sighed, tracing magazine clippings under the glass of the table she sat at, admiring the homey feel of the bakery. It wasn’t the falsified living room setting that most trendy coffee shops had – Farley Bakery felt so much more genuine and warm. She now wondered why it wasn’t more successful, even if it was in Los Angeles. It was like a well-kept secret, that few knew about and were loyal to, and Spencer had been let in on it quickly and warmly, without question.
She heard the gurgling sounds of the coffee machine as it finished producing a fresh pot, and heard voices conversing behind the counter – the bearded man and his lone baker, she presumed. They laughed and she heard the coffee being poured, and, soon enough, there was a friendly mug of the drink being gently placed before her, right where she had been staring in deep thought. She looked up, expecting to see the large hands of the bearded baker lingering above her cup, but was surprised to see much more slender and feminine hands there, spattered with baker’s flour. Her eyes traveled upwards to a familiar smile.
“Hey there, Emily.”

I’m already future cringing for when Ashley catches her out. But for the moment can I say, I LOVE YOUR INANIMATE OBJECT COMMENTARY! i just adore it. It’s so brilliantly done. I loved the metaphor of the paper chasing after the stapler. It was hilarious. I just.. wow, I actually cannot find words to describe how much I love it. You are just an incredible writer. So.. brilliant! I’m on edge for the next update. And some coffee…
ok sooo i’m reaally drunk right now..like alot..and i decided since my gf passed out i’d read some fanfics..and urs was the only one (out of the other 2 attemppts) i’m able to follow along with…and i love it…just as long as spencer doesnt go kookoo in the head in thee near future it’s all good…lol..and im prolly not making any sense but anyway grreat chap plzzzz pms!!!
ohh i love this story :] i’d nearly forgotten about it since it took you so long to update, but i figure i’ll let you slide on this one since i really like the story :] haha but seriously, i really like where you’re going with this. it’s not another one of those really predictable ones. good job :)
oh and i forgot, i’m with Myung on the whole song thing. i looked it up after i read your first post, and fell in love with the band in general. i listened to that song on repeat for like a week straight. i blame you. :)
=o!DUM DUM DUMMM.now, you must write more. before i go to sleep, because if I fall asleep without another chapter to this, i’ll probably go into a cliffhanger-coma.and thats no good. so more?

yay! love it. the randomness of the descriptions is cracking, and the ‘lone baker’ makes Ash sound like a bandit or cowboy or something… makes me laugh even if no one else thinks the same! I admire Spencer’s patience – I’d be growing increasingly more insane over the ridiculousness of the situation! Also, I’d forget to respond to my fake name! I look forward to it all coming out – Ash is in for a shock :-D Jx

I’m sitting at work shuffling my papers and feeling slightly dirty for feeling them up now. And I can’t help but think of my stapler as a bit of a whore now. It’s an electric, heavy duty stapler, you see, so it’s known many a paper in it’s day. Many, many papers at one time even. It’s almost a porn star. ::shudder shudder:: This fic is brilliant. I love how you’ve moved from a seemingly tragic one-shot into a somewhat whimsical and often funny story. Home schooled Spencer, eh? How’d she meet Aiden then? And is she going to be revealed through Aiden and his potential friendship/history with Ashley? (Don’t know if you’re going to have the two of them know each other in this fic – just guessing). Well, I’m also craving coffee now, so I think I’ll go get some. And then actually do some work. Think of that! Actually doing work. Wow.

ahhh this story was definitely in need of an update! i’m so glad you blessed us. i love how spencer is obsessed with the enigma that is ashley, and i hope you’ll have spence figure her out… did you know how addictive your writing is? i have too many fixes already! :)
