    CHAPTER 11:

    ONE REQUEST

I entered the bedroom to see Edward tossing my clothes into a suitcase. He did not like afraid, or angry. His eyes were filled with eagerness.

“What are you doing?” I asked with confusion.

“Can’t tell you,” He said, tossing in a pair of pajamas. Once he was finished throwing in clothes he left the room. I simply looked on, puzzled. He reentered with my toothbrush, toothpaste, and other bathroom supplies. He zipped up the suitcase, picked it up off the bed, and took my arm.

“Come on,” He said, “I have a surprise.”

“Should I change?” I asked, looking down at the old jeans and blue sweater.

“No, you’re beautiful,” He said, “Come with me.”

He led me to the Volvo and helped me in. Then we pulled out of the driveway, full speed ahead. The sun was beginning to set, sending rays of pink and yellow over the summits of the mountains.

“Edward,” I began, “Where are you taking me?”

“Do you want the surprise to be ruined, love?” He asked. I said nothing more.

As we drove on, he pressed play on the car stereo, and Clair de Lune flowed out of the speakers.

He stopped off after a while. He took my suitcase in one hand, and helped me out of the Volvo with the other. “Are you going to tell me now?” I asked him.

“No,” He said, “Sorry, but I have to do this.” He playfully put a blindfold on me, the kind people use when they sleep.

“Edward sometimes you remind me of a serial killer,” I laughed, and he couldn’t help but chuckle as well as he threw me over his back and began to run.

I kept my head as low as I could, vulnerability overcoming me. He ran as fast as he could, I could feel the wind rushing past me, the bushes and trees rustling as we sped by. I held on as tight as I could. Finally, we stopped.

He gently put me down and unblinded me. “Alright,” he said. He handed me the blindfold, “Read it.”

Flipping it over, I could see it was made of a topaz toned silk. It had glitter sprinkled onto it, and in fancy letters, it read: Do not disturb me: My Dreams are Dazzling
