Coming for You – (Chapter: A Twist In My Story)

Christine: Ashley! Open the fucking door!

The older woman’s voice bellowed from the other side of a bathroom door as she hammered her fists into the thick wood.

Ashley: Just leave me alone! I can’t do this anymore; I just want the pain to go away!”

Christine: Ashley we can get you help. Please just open the door.

The sharp blade looked so inviting in my trembling hands. Choking back my tears, I played with the razor admiring how it shined under the fluorescent lights.

    Ashley: I don’t need help!

Christine: Ashley, hunny, this isn’t like you. Just let me help you. I know I haven’t been there for you much in the past, but if you come out of this bathroom I promise things will change. You’ll never have to be alone again.

The older brunette sobbed into the crack of the door.

Ashley: Do you honestly think this is about you! And you’re right you haven’t been there for me, so why start now? HUH? Don’t worry mom, you won’t even notice that I’m gone!

I angrily clenched my fist around the razor and watched as a stream of red flowed from the cracks of my fingers. Using my uninjured hand I wiped the tears from my tired eyes. I then hesitantly dragged my weak body up off the tile floor and gazed into the mirror at my reflection. But when I looked into the mirror I didn’t see Ashley Davies, instead I saw an empty shell, the burned out figure of a girl lost in her own personal misery. I don’t know where all this pain was coming from, but all I know is that it is so excruciating that I can’t bare a moment of it any longer.

Slowly I raised the blade up to my wrist. I stared intently at the bare flesh of my arm, almost as if I could see my pulse pumping away within my veins. It was now or never, I thought to myself as I shakily guided my hand with the razor to my wrist.

    Ashley: AHHHHHH!

I snapped my head up from my desk, screaming out into the full classroom.

Professor Thompson: Is everything okay back there Miss Davies?

All eyes were on me as I grabbed at my chest in attempt to get my heaving chest under control. Completely ignoring the Professor, I quickly grabbed my books and paced out of the classroom. I continued down the hallway and rounded the nearest corner until I came across a secluded study area. Smashing my back hard into the wall, I slid my body down until I came in contact with the cold tile floor.
