Backstage Passes – (Chapter: 14: Making Me Feel Good)

How the hell did Hayley keep on getting in anyway? You would’ve thought she got the point the first time but no. She has to come back. Bitch. I had to get out of there; I had to come into the kitchen. I’m pretty sure Spencer will follow me, though I’d rather be alone. The kitchen door went. What did I tell you?

“Oh sorry hun. I didn’t know anybody was in here.”

“Oh Mrs. G. hi. I thought you were Spencer.”

“Maybe 40 years ago.” She laughed. Yeah I can actually imagine her being like Spencer. Spencer had that same smile, the same eyes, same laugh and same personality.

“Mrs. G. sorry if I’m intruding but what happened to Mr. G.?”

“He passed away last year. Cancer.” She sad sadly. I feel really bad now. She must have seen the expression on my face. “Oh hunny I’m not sad about it. Well I am, it’s just that, I know he’s in a better place-”

    “Heaven?” I scoffed.

“Even if you don’t believe in it, it is still there. It’s just; I remember all the good times, the bad times…”

“There were more bad times with my dad.”

“Yeah I heard. I’m sorry hun. But life goes on. Think about all the mistakes he made with you. You can correct them with your own children, rather than make the same ones.”

“That makes sense.” My phone started going off. “Oh sorry-”

“Don’t worry about it.” She went over to the oven and started putting more cookies in. I could tell she had blanked off her ears so she wasn’t listening to my phone call.

I looked at the ID ‘Sam’. “Hey Sam. Guess you’ve heard.”

    <Yes I have. I’m so sorry Ashley.>

    “It’s ok Sam.”

<I know your not but I s’pose enough people have been saying it.>

“Yeah, but at least they care.”

<Awww that’s a good thing. But besides that, I know your Dad mentioned your sister->

    “You knew about her?”

<Sorry Ash. I would’ve told you but I didn’t want to lose you. You’re the only close thing to a daughter I have.> How could you be angry with somebody after that?
