As It Should Have Been – (Chapter: 2.3 – The Morning After – Ashley's POV)
Chapter 2.3 – The Morning After – Ashley’s POV
I wait until I’m sure that she is sound asleep before I leave. I go down the stairs and into the kitchen. I’ve never cooked for anyone but myself before, and I never would have learned if it wasn’t for Ben. He taught me everything he knew, and he was a pretty good cook. I hope it’s good enough for Spence. I’d go to the edge of the Earth and back for her (I know I‘m whipped, but I love it). I take some Sausage and stuff for pancakes, as well as some grapes from the refrigerator. I start the sausage and mix the batter for the pancakes. I grab a small bowl from the cabinet wash the grapes. I finish as quickly as possible and I manage not to burn anything.
‘Yes! Go Me! Thank you, Ben.’
I really want to be there when she wakes up. I put everything on a small tray.
‘Let’s see…pancakes, sausage, grapes, little bowl of syrup, orange juice for me, milk for her, and all the needed utensils. I sooo rock.’
I head up the stairs quickly and put the tray on the bedside table.
‘She looks so adorable when she’s sleeping.’
I think for a second about just letting her sleep, but she starts to stir when she smells the food.
“Ashley?”
“Hey, gorgeous…did you sleep okay?”
She bites her lip, (god I love it when she does that) and looks at me with something I can’t quite identify.
“You made me breakfast?” she asks quietly.
“Um, yeah?”
How in the hell does this one girl turn my insides to goo with one look. She smiles and I grin at her. She pulls me to her unexpectedly and I lose my balance. She presses her lips to mine and I just fall into her. She pulls away just as unexpectedly as she pulled me to her.
“God, you are so sweet,” she laughs, “Okay, who are you and what did you do with my best friend…her name was Ashley Davies.”
“Well,” I laugh at her, “she just wasn’t good enough for you…sooo…I replaced her with your girlfriend Ashley Davies.”
She just smiles at me for a second, and I take the time to stare at her. She is sooo gorgeous…even with her hair completely tussled, no make up, and wrapped in fluffy blankets. She pushes the blankets off her, and is now wrapped only in a light throw blanket.
“Sooo, what did you make me?”
I place the tray on her legs. After a few “oohs” and “ahhs” from her we start to eat. I laugh when she asks me to feed her. I do it anyway though. She has me wrapped around her little finger and she doesn’t even know it yet. My phone starts to ring and I leave her to eat while I answer it.
‘It’s barely noon on a Saturday who would call me?’
“Hello?”
“Ashley?”
‘SHIT! I know that voice.’
“What’s up Mrs. C?”
