    A Vampire's Lament – (Chapter: 8-Misery Business)

    A Vampire’s Lament
    Chapter 8: Misery Business

"And about forgiveness, we’re both supposed to have exchanged.
I’m sorry honey, but I passed it up, now look this way."
    -Paramore

There was a tremendous force beating within my own body and it felt like I was in the middle of a gigantic earthquake.

It was my own headache that was caused by all this ridiculous stress over a war that I was never worried about until now. Not only does this damn war revolve around me and Spencer but her friends and family are involved as well.

Her eyes speak the words that she physically cannot form with her tongue and reading her thoughts only brings misery in this business. Dryness damages my throat and when I don’t speak for a long time, my thirst begins to quench and a desert is created inside of me.

After a proper explanation from Evana and Arial, Spencer and I are too shocked to speak our minds out on the reasons of war. I couldn’t concentrate on anything else as I drove everyone back to my home, not concerned with how my guardians and Kyla would react when they found I had brought home two powerfully innocent immortals.

I was pulling into my neighborhood that practically screamed "rich, white people" when I felt Spencer’s hand clutching my hand on the steering wheel. Her anxiety was pumping through her veins yet she found some comfort holding my hand.

"Ashley…we’ve got to help my family if they’re still alive. I-I don’t know what I would do without them." She whispered in my ear quietly. The car was halfway through our driveway when I randomly stopped the movement to respond to Spencer.

"Spencer, we’re going to do everything that we can to help. I honestly didn’t mean to drag you into this whole mess in the first place…" I reply, my fingers locking a few strands of blond hair and slowly stroking to make her feel safe. The emotionless girl sat quietly for a moment before a gentle voice broke the silence between us.

"It’s devastating at first when you discover your family is dead but you get used to the idea eventually when you’re bound to eternal life, living each day for the ones you once loved." Arial stated, trying to assure Spencer who clearly wasn’t one to understand perfectly since she’s a mortal.
