    A Vampire's Lament – (Chapter: 2-At Least I Know I'm A Sinner)

"Yeah? Well, if it weren’t for Odette and Judith, we would have suffered a miserable death. And plus, we wouldn’t be driving cars like this one and the mortals have recently become a tad more attractive, don’t you think?" I reply as I try to stifle a giggle. She flashed me a gorgeous smile and laughed a bit as we were driving out of the rich, private neighborhood.

"That is so true. Back then, everybody had no teeth and homosexuality meant that you were a witch and had to be burned by ugly fuckin’ fuckers." She said as we both howled with heavy laughter. You had to agree with Kyla’s superior knowledge and judgment. Even though her language has become accustomed to modern swear words, she said the truth in a way that made you appreciate her philosophy.

"Do you even know where the 7-11 even is Kyla?" I ask, changing the subject after realizing we had been driving in circles. "I can’t find a corner anywhere. I hear that there’s a 7-11 in every corner because it’s a corner-store gas station, isn’t it?" She asked, immediately regretting responding to my question. It’s moments like these where you have to question her I.Q. while adoring her simple innocence at the same time.

We’d been alive for over 200 years and she could not find a popular store for young mortals? Quite silly if you ask me.

"You’re such a loser, Ky. I think there’s a Circle K down the street so forget about the damn 7-11." I said, relaxing my thirst as my throat was quickly becoming dry. She pouted but still drove us down the street. "They don’t sell Pizza-Bites but at least they have those cakes filled with cream in the middle…what are they called again, Ash?" She asked, turning into Madison Ave. while driving over the curb.

"They’re called Twinkies, darling. Just hurry up and get us there; we both need to drink tonight." I reply, holding onto my seat after the uncomfortable bump. Kyla may have her driver’s license but she sure as hell doesn’t deserve it yet.

It took us about another five minutes to finally arrive to our destination. We parked right behind the convenience store since it was dark and we could easily attach ourselves to our "victim" without notice. As Kyla stepped out of the car, her excitement vibrated along with the Earth below us. We heard voices in the front of the store and I could already smell the beautiful girl I wanted to taste.
