Chapter 2

The first thing I remember from waking up was that I needed a god damn drink. I opened my eyes and my next thought was why are the lights so damn bright! Then I groaned. I left my eyes closed for a few seconds then tried opening them again.

It took a while to adjust and for everything to come into focus. It clearly wasn’t my room.

My next thought was it’s a hospital. I tried siting up a bit more but it was too hard. I tried calling but my voice came out as nothing more then a whisper.

It was quiet. After that I just waited for someone to come in. I don’t know how long it was, it could have been 5 minutes, half an hour or 3 hours but finally after a while I heard a familiar voice.

She giggled as little as she walked in. she was talking on the phone. She didn’t pay me any attention instead went straight for the vase and took the old flowers out and put new ones in. she has her back to me as she puts her back on the table there. She says something about going out to dinner tonight.

“Kyla” I try to say but it comes out as a whisper but I knew she heard me by her body language. She froze on the spot.

“Kyla” I said again and she slowly turned around.

She was startled out of her funk by a loud shout of Kyla through her phone. “You need to get down here now” she says quietly and unmoving. Maybe she thought that I would go to sleep again in she moved.

The person on the other line said something, I’m guessing it was ‘why’ “she’s awake” was all Kyla said before shutting the phone.

She took a tentative step towards me and when I didn’t move, only blinked she took fast steps towards me until she was right next to me.

She reached out to give me a hug but stopped and her hands returned to her side. Then she opened her mouth to say something but thought against it.
