    A Last Twist and a Final Turn.

    “I can do it” Erin said not letting anyone else touch it then she opened it up and tore through all the tissue paper and found an envelope “dis is it?” she said not happy about the gift

    “that’s it? No, no missy…” Ashley said opening up the envelope… “spence what do these look like to you?” she asked me

    “well…to me…those look like back stage Hannah Montana tickets.” Spencer said simply

    “no way! no way! no wayyyyy” Erin exclaimed over and over hugging Ashley “you’re da best!” Erin told her

    “no…you are” Ashley added “I’m gonna miss you so much…”

    “not for long” Erin said “you promised you’d see me soon” she added

    “I did promise…and you know what? here’s a pinky promise” Ashley said holding out her pinky and that’s something Nicole always did with Ashley.

    So, Erin gave Ashley yet another hug “I don’t wanna let go” Erin said to Ashley and a tear fell down Ashley’s face

    “then don’t ok? you want to know a secret?” Ashley asked her “…that bracelet you always wear…I bought that for your mommy…so I’ll always be with you ok?”

    “really?” Erin asked looking at me and I just nodded then I smiled at Ashley

    “Erin why don’t you get back in the car…” I told her then she gave Ashley another hug and ran to get in the car “…so…”

    “yeah…” Ashley replied

    “so where’s this leave us?” I asked her

    “you tell me…” she said

    “I want to believe there’s something here Ashley…” I told her “…I need to believe I can come back and you’ll be here…” I added and she pulled me into a hug

    “I’ll be here…I promise you I’ll be here…” she said softly into my ear

    “I love you…” I told her

    “I love you Spencer…” she said

     

    After our four hour trip to New York, it was late…and Erin needed some sleep, because airplane rides made her extremely tired

    So I was tucking her in her bed at night as she held her teddy close and she was wearing one of Ashley’s t-shirts

    “you feel better back in your own bed?” I asked her
