    We’re a Family–Christmas Theme One-off

    2 Days To Christmas, 2009

Tina Kennard looks out of the window at the brownstone that she and Bette now owned in Manhattan.  The snow was falling heavy.  It had been like this for hours now.  Her first white Christmas in years, Tina smiled, but sadly, as she missed the girls in Los Angeles that she considered her family.  And then she thought of Jenny.  It would be the first Christmas without her.

Though she never really got along with Jenny, she did love her.  She remembered sitting Angelica down with Bette to give her the talk about life and death.  Angelica took it a little better than they could have imagined, but every now and then, she’d want to talk about her aunt Jenny.

“God, she is such a cutie.” Tina said looking out to Bette on the front stairs, “Look, Angie.  Look at Mama B out in the snow.” Angelica stood at the side of her Mama T and watched as Bette shoveled the front stairs.

Though Bette looked frazzled and frustrated at the amount of snow on the stairs, one looked at her daughter and her partner, brought a smile to Bette’s face.  She dropped her shovel and made her way inside.

“It is impossible to shovel those stairs.” Bette groaned.

“I would say so, in a snowstorm.” Tina teased.

Instead of arguing her point, Bette just leaned in and kissed Tina.

“Angie, doesn’t your Mama B look too cute in her coat and hat, all covered in snow?” Tina turned to her daughter.

“Mmm hmm.  Mama B looks super cute.  Mama T said you were a cutie.”

Bette slid out of her coat, “A cutie, am I?  Well, Mama T is cuter.  And you’re cuter too.”  Bette picked Angelica up and kissed her cheeks.

Though Angelica was 5 now, she didn’t mind being picked up by her mothers, especially Mama B.

The phone started ringing as Bette placed her daughter on the floor.

    “I’ll get it!” Angelica shouted.

That was her new favorite thing to do—answer the phone.

“Porter-Kennard residence!  Angelica speaking.” She said it sweetly into the phone, “Hi, Auntie Alice!  I miss you!  I wish you could come see the lights with us. Yes, I can keep a secret.” She looked towards her mothers, who looked at her questioningly, “No, I won’t tell.  I promise.  Okay, bye bye!” Angelica handed the phone off to Tina.
