Chapter 12

Everything went perfectly through the concert, well almost everything. Ashley and Spencer kept throwing each other glances of distaste towards each other. They were completely with held by the judgments that had been passed on their mother’s. After the concert was over Tina, Dana, and Alice said their good-byes. Tina gave her number to Dana and asked her to use it with discretion and begged her not to let Bette know she was in town. If she was going to have to visit that time in her past it was going to be on her own time, and not on Bette’s. Tina finally pulled Ashley over to the side and talked to her.

“Honey, I know you might not like me much, and I realize that I should probably ask nothing of you, but will you please not let your mother know I am here.”

“Why should I do that. You walked out on my mother. What makes you think she ever cares?”

Ashley knew her words were brutal, but they were the truth. How did this Tina know that her mother gave two shits less that she was in town.

The honesty of Ashley’s words hurt Tina. She didn’t honestly know if Bette would care if she was back in town. She didn’t even know if Bette was seeing anyone. She knew little about Bette’s present life, and that hurt her. The love of her life was leading another life with out her and she was doing the same. She’d never loved anyone like she’d loved Bette, and it was until she had actually married Spencer’s dad, Arthur, had she realized that she would never love anyone like she’d loved Bette. Tina shook her head.

“Ashley, I don’t know if she cares, but please just do this for me. I am honestly just not ready to go down that path. I still love your mother, and to see her not reciprocate that love would kill me, and I am not sure if I am willing to give her that love. Can you understand that?”

Ashley nodded her head.

“I understand, but I don’t think it’s me you need to worry about. It’s Alice.”

Tina laughed.

“Yah, you’re right.”

She put her hand on Ashley’s shoulder and looked her in the eyes.
