A Dare to Dream Spin-Off

Chapter 1

Bette & Tina sat in the floor wrapping the last of the Christmas gifts. As the hour grew later their excitement built. They knew they wouldn’t get much sleep but they didn’t care. Truth be told they were both too excited to sleep anyway. Tina couldn’t help but notice how quite Bette was being.

“You getting tired babe?”

Tina’s question snapped Bette back from her thoughts she had gotten lost in. “ Huh.. No I’m good.”

“What’s the matter babe? You were a million miles away…”

“I was… but nothings wrong T… everything is just so right.” The smile that emerged on her face left no doubt in Tina’s mind. “I was just thinking about how this year has been the best Christmas I can remember. I haven’t felt this excited about Christmas since I was a little girl.”

“It has been good this year.. and we haven’t even gotten to the best part.”

“I can’t imagine it getting any better.”

“I know.” Tina scooted across the floor to sit between Bette’s legs. Bette wrapped her arms around Tina and they sat facing the Christmas tree watching the lights as they recounted the days leading up to what promised to be the best Christmas in both their lives.

“I love the ornaments you picked out for us baby… they are beautiful.”

Bette looked proudly and each of their family ornaments she had gotten. “I’m glad everyone liked them… I still can’t believe the kids were all ok with putting all the old ones away. I never dreamed that would happen. I just wanted something for all of us, something special to mark our first Christmas as a family.”

“They are all happy babe.. they are all ready to put the past away. They may be young, but they know what makes them feel good. They know when they are loved. I didn’t tell you this, but the girls asked me what we were going to do because you, Colin, and Gavin didn’t have special ornaments like theirs. I told them that I was sure that you and Colin had special ornaments to that we could add to ours.”
