Just after Christmas, Molly had received an invitation to her college friend Julie’s wedding at a ski lodge in Vermont. Excited at the prospect of spending a weekend with her old friends whom she had not seen in quite some time, Molly quickly responded, writing “Shane and Molly Kroll-McCutcheon will attend.” That evening she happily told Shane that they would be spending Valentine’s Day in Vermont, her good college friend was getting married and they were invited. Shane, though somewhat nervous and leery at the idea of meeting her friends, agreed to go, relishing the idea of having at least one romantic evening with her, celebrating their first Valentine’s Day together.

            The weeks passed swiftly and soon Valentine’s Day was practically upon them. They dropped Shay off at Tasha and Alice’s for the weekend on their way to the airport, hopped on a plane and soon found themselves in beautiful, cold, snowy Vermont. Since this was their first Valentine’s Day together, they opted to forego staying at the ski lodge with all the other wedding guests and rented a room at a local romantic Bed and Breakfast.

            After checking in, they retired to their room, dropping their bags and plopping onto the bed in exhaustion from their flight. Molly curled up beside Shane and rested her head on her chest. “I’m so tired,” she said, sleepily.

            “Yeah, me too,” Shane agreed as she placed a kiss atop Molly’s head. “All I want to do is curl up with you and go to sleep,” she continued, wrapping Molly in a hug.

            “I know that’s not what you had planned for our romantic getaway but that sounds perfect,” Molly replied, happily. Sitting up, she removed her shirt and pants and helped Shane with hers. Lying down beside her, Molly took Shane’s hand and rolled over onto her side, pulling Shane with her into a spooning position. Reaching down, Shane pulled the soft, silky sheets and warm blankets over them and snuggled up next to her. She placed a sweet and gentle kiss on the nape of Molly’s neck and held her tightly.

            Bringing Shane’s hand to her lips, Molly pressed a kiss to her palm and breathed, “Night babe. I love you.”
