    Firefighters Dilemma pt2/2

Dana stared at Alice for a few brief moments before finally putting the large truck into motion with blunt force to the gears, grinding them heavily as she went along. Alice just sat in the passenger seat staring out the window not wanting to say anything to correct Dana’s terrible shifting pattern and horrible gear timing.

"So what’s the game plan?" Alice asked, not being able to take the loud humming of the engine along with the occasional curse word from her wingman

"Haven’t really thought of one, but I guess if I had to plan it…" trailing off to down shift through the sharp turn "I would say. You’re going to look for that address," pointing towards the clipboard in the seat between them " and I’m going to set the ladder up against the tree and send you up to make you ask pretty please to one pissed off cat."

"Thanks a lot Dane." Alice replied, her tone dripping with sarcasm

Dana let her eyes wander from the road briefly to match Alice’s smart ass remark "Anything for you baby."

The blond quickly flipped Dana the bird "Since you will do anything, how about you let the engine break a little and ease off on that clutch. Or do you just prefer the ‘grind em’ til you find em’ approach?"

Dana shot an icy stare at the blond sitting next to her which did not go unnoticed. Alice immediately shut up and continued to look for the address that they were being dispatched to. The pair rode in an awkward silence.

Down shifting once more and slowing the truck down, Dana pointed towards a house back up on a hill “I think that’s it.”

“Well how do you know?” Alice asked, rolling the window down and sticking her head out to get a better look at the mailboxes lined up beside the road

“Because Al. We went on a structure fire about a month ago in this area. I remember addresses” Dana replied, pivoting the steering wheel in the ball of her hand, hard and to the right

“Fine then Miss Memory.” Checking the address from the clipboard against the mailboxes “Holy shit, how are we going to get across that bridge?” tossing the clipboard in the floor and shoving her head even further out the window
