As Tina talked about her confrontation with Kit, Bette found to her surprise that she was able to restrain her anger toward her sister much better than she had anticipate. Hearing Tina share with her how she had handled the situation brought home to her just how much she had underestimated Tina in the past. Regret course through her but along with it the knowledge that the past was done and she needed to focus on the present and the future. Shifting her position slightly to distract herself from cutting in a couple of times while T spoke Bette felt a current of desire rush through her body as she felt the pulsating heat of Tina’s leg beside hers.

As she listened Bette sipped from her glass and found herself pulled away from the stresses and fears of her day and drawn into the sound of Tina’s voice, the play of light on her face and the vulnerability of her words. God, she is so much more open than me. I can’t believe how much she trusts me and us after all that we have been through the brunette thought.

From somewhere outside of her thoughts Bette registered T’s words and pulled her mind back to the moment.

"I can’t help but feel for Kit. I remember the emptiness I felt when I lost our son Bette–its indescribable. It just reaches out and swallows you whole. I don’t think she realized how much she had been transferring her feelings to Angelica until I had to point it out. It made it easier though to deal with what she said, what she implied about me ‘hurting’ you and Angel."

Hearing T talk about their son brought tears instantly to Bette’s eyes (they had rarely spoken about it since it had happened) but rather than brushing them away Bette reached out slowly and took Tina’s hand in hers and squeezed it gently and forced her eyes to meet her lover’s. Let her see your pain. You have never let her see this and if you don’t she can’t help you

"T, you amaze me. You truly do. You are so strong in ways I am only learning are strong. My sister had no right to imply what she did and here I am I could rip out her vocal cords for what she said and you… well you just amaze me. You can take the pain of your loss and use it to understand others."
