CHAPTER 4: OF MIXED SIGNALS, MIXED TAPES, AND MIXED EMOTIONS
WEDNESDAY
Lunch Time @ Miriam High School
“How’s your novel coming along, Jenny?” It was Bette who asked the always preoccupied Jenny. “What about the school paper, Ms. Editor? I hear you’ve got a busy month.”
“Yeah. I’m still writing but I have to come up with better routines for the squad. Oh, and Tina and I asked one of the newbies to spend lunch with us. We have to go over the sched with her. Plus, she needs to meet more people anyway… Ugh. I still have to worry about the paper. Gotta think something more interesting for the editorial. Did you see that movie you were talking about yesterday, Alice? Hey, can I have some of those chips, Dana?”
“Alone. Yes, I did. Alone.” Alice said, trying to win Shane’s awareness.
“Yeah, sure. Go ahead.” Dana had her vision on Lara who was sitting with other Lacrosse players across their table. After breathing out a regret-full of sigh, Papi stood up.
“You know what? I can’t take this anymore. This isn’t going anywhere if no one tries to do something.”
“What the hell are you doing, Papi?” Shane was curious now, and so is the rest of the crew.
“I have a very bad feeling about this, Bette.” Tina told Bette, who was trying to read what Papi was intending to do.
“Don’t you dare, Papi. I am going to take your head off your shoulders if you pull something funny. I am warning you.” Dana stood up as well, trying to coax Papi into dropping whatever it was that she was planning.
Papi began walking toward Lara and her buddies, with rock-like conviction, and sky-high confidence exuding from her body language.
“Oh, this is gonna be good,” as Alice watched the whole scene.
“Shit.” Shane held her breath, waiting for something to explode.
“Hey, Lara. You see, I know you know this friend of mine, Dana? She was uh, wondering if you’d like to go out on a date with her… She just doesn’t have the guts to ask you herself so I took the liberty to approach you… What do you say?” Papi conveniently asked Lara, without a blink of an eye.

Damn! Why did she have to tear the note? And why did Cherie pop up? Sorry, I’m a Sharmen fanatic. Didn’t mean to make you change your storyline.. I hope it gets better – for Sharmen. :)
