    Reunions: Chapter 2

“Wow, you guys really shouldn’t have gone to all this trouble!” Lara exclaimed, looking in awe at the spread of food and wine sitting on every available countertop in Jenny and Shane’s kitchen.

“Hey, how many times have you cooked wonderful food for us over the years?” Jenny asked, smiling at Lara as she negotiated a space for the final platter of food on the table.  “It’s the least we could do, especially since you’ve come all the way across the country to celebrate Bette and Tina’s recommitment ceremony.”

“And, don’t thank us until you’ve tasted it,” Shane added wryly, as she opened a bottle of wine.  “Might as well get the party started,” she suggested, handing a full glass to Lara and Jenny.

“When is everyone arriving?” Lara asked, gratefully taking a large gulp of wine.  Although she didn’t plan on getting falling-down drunk, she felt the need to fortify herself for the potential awkwardness of the evening to come.  As much as she was looking forward to catching up with everyone again, she wasn’t excited about the prospect of spending her welcome home party trying to avoid Alice and Tasha, the newest happy couple of the group.  It made her ill to think of Alice being with anyone besides herself, but the last thing she wanted to do was to ruin everyone else’s evening by making a big deal out of it.

“Bette and Tina should be coming over any minute now,” Shane answered, glancing out the back window to see whether she could spot her neighbours making their way across the yard.  They weren’t outside, which probably meant that Bette was giving last-minute instructions to the sitter.  “And, Helena, Kit, Angus, and Papi said they’d come at around 8:00.”

“Papi’s coming?” Jenny said, a hint of dismay in her voice.

    “Who’s Papi?” Lara asked curiously.

Before Shane could respond, Jenny chimed in.  “Papi is this girl who Shane has been competing with,” she said, rolling her eyes at Shane.

“I’m not competing with her,” Shane protested with a grin.  “I’ve already won, anyway.”

“What’s the competition?” Lara asked, intrigued to discover that Shane would feel the need to compete with anyone.

    1. first off a big shout out to Midtown manhattan! Hells kitchen… lol this was just the kicker blue so this IS how S4 will go right? lol if only wishes would come true. Big kudos on the use of Papi character even tho the papi thing just sucks. Helena scared me here so another kudos for u. This looks like its gonna be a bumpy ride and im on it for sure! keep up the greatness and post soon plz :)

    2. Ouch! Hel fire..lol..she is right though..their actions & decision need to be honorable b4 any possibility of a reconnection. Don’t care much for Papi character, Shane is bad enough. Nice update thanks!

    3. I’m glad Helena had a little chat with Lara. Everytime the going gets tough, Lara gets going. When Dana became ill, Lara went to France. ALice starts to get close to her, Lara goes to Manhattan….hmmm…do we see a pattern ? Lara has committment issues and as much as I think her and Alice are cute together, I hope she doesn’t hurt Alice again. Thanks for the post. PPS.

    4. there are so few lace stories out there, and i have to say im extactic that you have this one! its really amazing an di love it! please post more soon, and can we get tasha out of the damn picture? i already dont like her…

    5. I just read the first two chapters & I’m definitely intrigued. While I will always be a Danish fan … I do enjoy Lace & would hope that they get a chance on TLW.

    6. omg i LOVE IT! It’s totally satisfying until the premier of S4, I’ll be really interested to see how it turns out. Did I mention I love it? I loveee Alice and Lara and I don’t know why. I just connect with them. This story is fabulous and I love how protective Helena was, she made such a good point. I love Helena. Wow, it’s so crazy how things have changed over the season. I never would’ve expected to be saying these things you know? Anyways, I ‘ve done enough rambling. Can’t wait for the next update! You’re fabulous!

    7. Welcome home… *Sad sigh* Lara IS a runner isnt she? I mean, first after the initial break up with Dana… then to paris, not to NY… What would be the background of that I wonder? Thanks for this wonderfull update! PPS!

    8. I’ve just gotten around to read this story. I love it! It’s – just as your other story – well-written. You capture the feelings (the aching) of Lara and Alice very well. I like it that all the spoilers are wrapped up in this story. I’m actually getting excited to see how all this will develop in S4 (at first I was a bit skeptic about all the new characters on the show). I’m really glad to hear this is going to be a Lace-story (eventually)! They have to work out a lot of things but I hope they know their relationship has much more meaning than their inital reason for hooking up (out of grief of Dana).

    9. I hear what the other readers have to say about Lara’s penchant for bolting when the going gets tough, but, hey: This is still more characterization for the girl than we’ve had in the past three seasons. And that ‘talk’ just made me love Helena. I love this.

    10. Great update, can’t wait to keep reading more. I agree with Helena that Lara has been a common denominator in Alice’s ‘low points’ BUT…the times that Lara has left, she’s pretty much been shown the door, no? What’s a girl to do? Tough one. Still, nice touch having Helena step in and say her piece and giving Lara something to chew over. Of course, I love how you keep that Lace spark on simmer mode–obviously the door has not been shut on these two, yay!, and lots of room for angsty goodness, not to mention character development. They are angry at each other yet still step back offer polite and kind feelings from the heart, so there seems to be that respect there. Of course, I’m interpreting it as LURVE. I’m looking forward to seeing how these two continue their journey. Update soon please;) Great job as always!

    11. well of course I agree with Min, that Lara has been shown the door the times that she’s bolted….but, she’ll be allowed back in…no? Through the haze of Oktoberfest, Lara’s actions seems perfectly plausible, so….I’m hoping for some Lace reunion action soon….and as for mine…it will come early next week…I must return home first and concentrate! For the time being….I am SO glad you are writing again…and I am, SOOOOOOO enjoying your new story!Yay!waiting for more…..
