    My One Special One – Chapter 18

    Previously…

     

    Three blocks down on Front Street the man with the penetrating eyes pulled out from the parking space quickly.  

     

    “Yeah, dark, exotic and definitely easy on the eyes.  Little Ms. District Attorney has good taste – real good taste.” He laughed scathingly, stepped on the gas and sped away along the waterfront, disappearing into the night.

     

     

     

     

    They lay in bed, Tina’s head resting on Bette’s breast, her arm and one leg draped over Bette’s body in a close and protective position.  Bette had her arm around Tina, pulling her in, letting her know she was there for her.

     

    This was not hot, wet sex time – this was the other physical and emotional connection between two people so in love.  It was the safe haven and stability of presence of the soul lying next to you. 

     

    All is well – We are together

     

    Bette had recounted the earlier event in her store about the unknown man, thinking he was just hitting on her and being obnoxious…and her realizing after he left that he had called her by name.   She told the two officers who were sitting outside and it was now in the hands of the police.  Hopefully, they would find the guy and at least question him.  Tina had just listened to Bette telling her what transpired, but the look of concern on Tina’s face grew deeper with each word.

     

    Now there was a silence – the air empty of unnecessary words.  Bette knew there was something on Tina’s mind and would wait until she spoke.

     

    “Bette?”

     

    “What, Baby?” Bette turned and lightly kissed Tina on the top of her head.  Her senses were heightened as she took in the scent of Tina’s hair.

     

    “I’ve never been scared before in any of the cases I’ve had.  I’m worried – not just for this case and what’s going on, but the chances are after this I’ll be moving into homicide and the characters involved could get even worse.  You didn’t sign on for all this drama…I..I mean I would understand if you…if you, you know wanted to step back…and with this guy today…they know too much about me…

    1. Go get your woman and enjoy your special time togther. I have always enjoyed your writing ability especially your poems. They bring tears, chills and a warm feeling to me. Drama is fine as long as those two are together and are not hurt. Be safe and I will be waiting for the next chapter.
