An hour or so later there is a knock at Bette’s door.

Bette: “Come in.”

Xandra steps into Bette’s office, “Bette, I just wanted to let you know that I don’t think you’ll be having any more trouble with Helena.”

Bette: “What makes you so sure?”

Xandra: “Well, I happen to be close friends with Peggy Peabody and I called her right after the meeting to inform her of her daughter’s actions. Needless to say, she was not happy, in fact, she has decided to take the foundation away from Helena and she is flying her into New York for a psycological evaluation.” She turns to leave, “Just thought you might like to know that.”

Bette leans back in her chair. She pictures Helena in a straight jacket and laughs. She can’t wait to get home to tell Tina.

Chapter 18………………………….

James: “Bette, line 2 for you.”

Bette leans into the intercom, “Thank you, James.”

Bette: “Bette Porter speaking.”

Kit: “Hey baby sis”

Bette: “Heeyyy! How are you feeling? Did they release you from the hospital yet?”

Kit: “I’m doing ok and ,yeah, they did… that’s why I’m calling…..I’m down at the city.”

Bette: “Have they set your bond?”

Kit: “They said it should be set as soon as the judge returns from lunch….so a couple of hours maybe.”

Bette: “K…tell ya what, I’ll finish up a few things here then I’ll come down there to post it and give you a ride home.”

Kit: “Are you sure? I know you’re busy.”

Bette: “I know, but it’s ok I was planning on leaving a little early today anyway. Some ***** has really went down and I need a breather.”

Kit: “Really? What?”

Bette: “I’ll tell you about it later…..it’s a long story. So just hang tight and I’ll see you in a bit.”

Kit: “K…bye.”

Bette: “Bye.”

Bette hangs up the phone and realizes she has a voice message.

Tina: “Hey babe….you must be on the phone or out of the office. I just wanted to tell you that Dylan just dropped me off from the cryobank. He told me everything that happened this morning….I’m so glad everything worked out. Anyway, I know you’re busy and you’ll probably be working till later this evening so I’m going to run by Dr. Wilson’s then I’m going with Alice and Shane to watch Dana practice. I love you, see you tonight.”
