    Previously

     

    Nancy watched Kelly walk to the witness stand.   Everyone watched her walk to the witness stand, except Faye Buckley.  She had her face covered with her hands and even from this distance, Nancy could see tears running through her fingers.

     

    There is a time in all our lives when we need to face our pastthis, Faye Buckley is your time.


     

     

     

    The tall New Haven law professor, Kelly Barrett stepped up to the witness stand and placed her hand on the bible.   She was sworn in and sat in the witness chair. She looked right at Nancy.  Her dark Irish eyes showed nervousness and perhaps a little fright.

     

    Nancy could see that several of the jurors were looking to the back of the courtroom, over at the defendant, and then back at Kelly.  Stan Peakes had his hand under his chin and Nancy knew it was because he was holding his jaw up.  He hasn’t asked for a recess.

     

    Bette, Tina, Shane and Alice were still staring incredulously at Kelly.  Although Bette was stunned, the others were still digesting the fact of Helena figuratively setting Bette up for the kill.

     

    Shane, in particular, was seething.  Payback’s a *****, Helenaand how I want to be there on the day it’s dispensed

     

    “You may begin your examination, counsel.”

     

    “Professor Barrett, are you okay?”

     

    “Yes.”

     

    “A little nervous?”

     

    “Yes.”

     

    “If anytime during the questioning, you feel you need to take a break, just let the Court and me know, okay?”

     

    “I will.”

     

    “Professor Barrett – may I call you Kelly?

     

    “Yes, of course.”

     

     “Where do you live, Kelly?”

     

    “New Haven, Connecticut.”

     

    Stan stood.  “Your Honor, I’m sorry.  Do you think it would be possible to have a brief recess so I could once again confer with my client?”

     

    “Mr. Peakes, we just had a recess and you had time to confer with your client then.  Wasn’t this witness’s name provided to you?” The Court asked.

     

    “Yes, your Honor, but”

     

    “Then being the excellent attorney you are, I’m sure you had ample time to discuss anything pertaining to this witness with your client.  No recess.  Ms. Richardson, continue.”

You had me searching so hard for Kelly’s connection, that the look a like never accured to me, and the idea of someone’s hate is to through off the scent from themselves. Absolutly BRILLIANT.     17. Oh my goodness that was incredibly brilliant. I mean wow. I knew Kelly had to have been with Faye but that she and Bette were almost identical…wow!

    21. Arceextl…You really played, toyed and I suspect will continue to toy with your readers will power *evil smile* THIS IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! Truthfully I was half right in that I figured about the Kelly/Fay connection as in Faye Buckley is a hasbian LOL. But for the life of me it never at all crosses my mind that you would make Kelly Barrett a Bette Porter look-alike, for this alone I say “WOW”! Also in my humblest opinion you balance the whole story line wonderfully. You use Alice to tone down, balance the high tension, air of anticipation with witty, funny lines which is so true and characteristic to Alice’s character! You tease, you tickle, you give a little, and you throw in a sneak peak here and there and prolong the air of anticipation and purposely I dare say stretch the tension all the while moving methodically towards the cliffhanger… a brilliant move in my humblest opinion!

      I enjoyed both of the recent post immensely! If I have any complaint it would be this chapter is too darn short to satisfy your readers’ addiction! Come…come… now Ms Arceextl… have a heart ;o) give us more *nudge-nudge * come on girl … what do you say … we have a deal here hmmm… *wink-wink * make the next chapter L_O_N_G_E_R

      One more thing your courtroom dramas are totally worthy of an episode on The Practice! EXCELLENT job!

      Have just caught up with this fantastic and fabulous fan fiction. It is a wonderful rollercoaster ride as all the separate threads have come together and created a magic carpet. The jury and court’s shock only mirror’s my own as the truth about Kelly’s appearance was revealed. Her previous history with Faye is a revelation that makes sense as to her hatred for Bette. Love can so easily be flipped 180 and turn into the most despicable revulsion. These emotions are yin and yang; opposites that co-exist.
      You have crafted a brilliant and most enjoyable story. These court room scenes are full of high drama and the ultimate of paybacks.
      Can’t wait to see what happens next.
      I will be checking in constantly.

      I always thought that Bette was involved with Faye and Kelly’s past, but never I thought Kelly would be a “mirror image” of her ! Marvellous idea !
      And your Nancy is simply the full-of-genius and engaging lawyer everybody would dream to meet. What a character…

      Now I just look at you with the same admirative glance that Della Street had for Perry Mason : WOW !!!

      Even if I wasn’t able to comment the two last chapters – you wrote these last three SO fast, amazing !! – , please accept my reunited thanks and congratulations for this so exciting trial movie, written with huge talent !

      As Alice said : “Holy Fuck…Fuck me…is someone making a movie of this?”
      … that would be a great idea indeed !
