The B Word Chapter 47 Bruised Ego’s and Balloons

The scene takes place at the hospital.
The gang is in a private waiting room with a television and coffee maker.
Sally the social worker enters the room. Is there anything I can get for you while you are waitingnewspapers, magazines? Sally asks the group.

I think we are ok. Dominic says to her.
SallyMaria asked What happened to the driver of the car that crossed the median causing the accidents? What about our drivers.

Just then Sasha, Eva, and Suzanne come into the waiting where the gang is sitting.
Heyare you guys ok?… Eva asks
We have been so worriedWe came to pick up Giovanni and Gino…
Sasha commentedThank god they only had cuts and bruises.

Sally was looking at the Everyone was silent.Im not really suppose to tell you this but the driver of the other was killed..She had a very high level of alcohol in her system.

Damn that is so sad..Maria says as everyone looks sad.
So that must have been her family in the waiting room. Alice added.
I cant even image what it would be like to loose a child. Kit said as she started to cry because she thought about her son David.

The next day

Kit goes down to the gift shop and gets Bette some balloons.
Then she returns with them.
Bette remember when you used to watch that cartoon all the time?
Well here are some balloons from it.
Bette just laughedYes I was sure into art then.
Maria comes walking in with the baby in her carrierand .two book bags
Hi Bette…Maria says as she sets down everything and takes Anna Bella out of the carriershe hands Anna Bella to Tina.

Maria gives Bette a hug, along, with Kit and Tina.
So how are you feeling? Maria asked Bette
Im sore but ..Im good. Bette says

Oh my god.this was my favorite character I loved Tweety. Maria states
Maria goes over and adores the balloons.
Tina and Kit start laughing.
Dr. Lombardo comes inHi Bette.how are you feeling?
Im good Doc..Im ready to go home. Bette says
I bet your arebut I would like to keep you one more day just to make sure everything is ok. So who is this little one. She asks.
Dr. Lombardo this is my daughter Anna Bella.and my partner Tina.
Nice to meet you Dr. Lombardo answers,

Well Bette the surgeon did such a nice job on you you wouldnt even have a scar.
Dr. Lombardo adds as she takes a peak at the incision

James comes walking into the room with a stack of papers.
Hi James! Bette calls out..
Bette Porter I know your not going to do work here. Tina yells
Honey I have a ton of work to doIt will help keep me busy while I am here.
The phones are ringing like crazy at the CAC..People want to interview,
get you to serve as there directorsetc James adds.

Thanks James for taking care of everything Bette replies as she is signing letters and other documents.

The nurse comes in and says I think everybody needs to give Ms. Porter sometime to rest.
Everyone leaves except for Tina who stays back with Bette.

Maria is getting off of the elevator with Anna Bella in tow.
Hi Maria Suzanne says with a smile.
Oh Suzanne..Maria is very surprised to see her.
I thought I would run up and see your sister while Eva and Sasha are waiting for them to release Geno and Giovanni. Suzanne says.

Righthow are they? Maria inquires.
They are bruised and a couple of broken ribs.but they get to go home.
Suzanne adds.
Maria looks at the flowers Suzanne has in her hands.
So is this Bettes baby? Suzanne asks.
Yes this is Bette and Tinas Baby girl Anna Bella Maria responds..
She is so beautiful. Suzanne says.
Well I better get her home. Maria says as she heads toward the front door.

Suzanne asks the receptionist what room Elizabeth Porter is in.
Its room 344 The lady states
Thank you. Suzanne replies as she heads downs that number.

She knocks on the open door to see Bette surfing the television stations.
Hi Suzanne Bette turns and says to her.
How are you? Are you going to be ok? Suzanne asks.
Yes I will be fine.I get to go home tomorrow or the next dayit wont come soon enough. Bette says

Here I brought you some flowers Suzanne says
You didnt have to do thatbut I really appreciate itthat was very thoughtful of you.
Suzanne places them on the make shift dresser near the window.
I was wondering Bette.if maybe you would like to have dinner with me one night after you get out of here.They have extended my stay for another month
Suzanne asks as Tina comes in the room with some ice cream for Bette.

Suzannes eyes get really big..
Tina is curious to who this lady is. She hand Bette the ice cream.

Hello .Im Tina Tina says as she reaches out to shake her hand.
Nice to meet you Im Suzanne. She responds.
Bette gets a worried look in her eyes.
So I guess Bette told you how well she is doing. Tina says as she sits on the side of the bed with Bette.

I heard the driver of the other car was drunk. Suzanne adds.
Yes its too bad that kids dont value there lives and those of others. Tina adds.

Suzanne feels very uncomfortable.
Well I better get going.I hope you think about what day is good for dinner. Suzanne says.
OkI will discuss it with Tina and we will find a time when we can both go. Bette explains.
Again it was nice to meet you Tina.I wish you well Bette. Suzanne replies.

Suzanne thought to herself.I guess she is really in love because the old Bette Porter would have came alone.

Honey Im sorry I didnt know she was coming here. Bette explained as she rubbed Tinas back.
Bette there is no need to apologize.I know she was up here with Eva and Sasha to get the drivers. Tina explains as she gives Bette a sweet kiss on the lips.
Thank you for your response about the dinner. Tina says as she smiles and steals a bite of Bettes Ice Cream.

The chapter ends with Maria at the house rocking Anna Bella to sleep.
