Oh my God! Am I imagining things? Baby, please kick again for Mommy, will you? Tina begged the little angel in her stomach. Again, the baby kicks and againBettes hand starts to move.

Thank you God! Tina exclaimed. Kit, get the doctor. I think Bettes fingers just moved. Kit! Did you hear me? Get the doctor..;NOW

Kit was too much in shock to say anything. She just followed Tinas command. She ran outside and saw Lexa in the hall way. Lexa I need to get a doctor. Tina said Bettes hand just moved. I think she might be coming out of the coma!

Lexa went to the nurses station to get a doctor. Thankfully, they didnt have to wait to long. Bettes doctor just started his rounds and he was only a few doors away. They all hurriedly ushered the doctor into Bettes room.

Hello. Lets see what is going on here. I hear that she moved her fingers. Well her vital signs looks good. Hello, Dran. Can you hear me? The doctor asked.

Kit and Tina looked at each other bewildered. Why are you calling her Dran? Her name is Bette, Bette Porter! They corrected him.

Lexa interfered. Its a long story ladies but doctor, I know her record says Drannek Anitsirch but her real name is Bette Porter. Im sure shell respond better if you call her Bette.

Again the doctor calls but this time calling her Bette but still no respond. It seems that she is still in a coma. The movement that you saw could have been just involuntary movements. It happens sometimes. Can you tell me exactly what happened?

Tina starts to explain to the doctor so the doctor took Bettes hand and placed it on Tinas stomach. There was no movement, either from the baby nor Bette. Tina places her hand on Bettes and starts to beg the baby to again move for her parents.

Please sweetie, can you move for Mommy again. Be a good girl and show the doctor what you can do. Show the doctor that Momma knows you are here and you want her to wake up. Tina starts to cry and begs repeatedly.

The doctor was starting to apologize and trying to remind them of the involuntary movements when the baby kicks!!! In an instant, Bettes fingers moved. She was still not awake but she did move. Tina starts to lean in closer to Bette and starts to softly speak into her ear.

Please baby, wake up. Please give me another chance to explain and make things right. I still love you. I have never stopped loving you. She gently kiss Bettes temple and feel something wetWhat is this? Tina asked herself. Why is this wet? Could this be sweat?

Kit, do you think she has been sweating? I just felt something wet beside her temple. Again Tina gives Bette a soft, gentle kiss on the cheek this time.

TinaI think they are tears. Whatever you said to her, it made her cry? Kit explains.

The doctor just stood there looking at what was unfolding. He had no logical or scientific explanation to what was happening to his patient. The only thing he could say was, congratulations ladies. I believe she is on her way out of the woods. I cant explain it but you might just have witness a miracle. Never in my years have a seen an unborn baby have such an effect on a person in a coma. You are very lucky! I predict that she will be walking up real soon. Keep speaking to her. I am sure she is conscious of what is going on around her. You can only help her situation. Well, ladies, I will be back later to check on her again. The doctor left Bettes room just scratching his head of what he has been a part of. I guess the man upstairs has other plans for this woman.

Tina, why dont you get something to eat. Its been a very long day for you and the baby. I am sure both of you can use something in your stomach. Go ahead and Ill stay with Bette. Lexa, why dont you go ahead and keep her company? Im sure she wont eat if she is by herself. Kit gently begs Tina to comply.

I guess you are right. I havent had anything to eat since this morning. Maybe that is part of the reason why the baby has been so active. Promise me youll find me if her condition changes.

Of course, Baby girl. You know I will. Now go and get something to eat before that baby of yours starts asking Bette to take her out to dinner. Kit jokes.

Tina and Lexa walk down to the cafeteria and finally starts to put some food in their stomach. They sat down quietly and tentatively. Tina was obviously distracted with the turn of events not just in the past few hoursbut in the past month. Bette had been goneno missing and she never bothered to call anyone. Why was the only word that was traveling throughout her mind. Finally Lexa made the first move. She always can sense when there is uncomfortable situation.

You know she will be alright. Lexa speaks trying to calm Tina down.

I hope so. I have almost convinced myself that I can live a future without her as my wife but to live at all without her IN my life is something I cannot donor accept. We have both made mistakes and have hurt each other so much but I know that we are still in love with each other. I knew it the moment she reacted to the baby and when I spoke to her. I was so hurt that I couldnt see the single most important thing in our livesthat we still love each other very much. I think I got caught up at being hurt and angry with her that I stopped trying to listen. I just wanted to lash out to her. Make her feel the pain I was feeling. I was angry because I convinced myself that the pain I was feeling was something she purposely did but I was wrong. We were in trouble and it wasnt just her doing. The affair was what pushed us over the edge but the things I did and said were what finally pushed HER over her edge. I guess that is the single reason why she felt she had to leave. What I dont understand is why she never communicated with anyone? Not even Kit of all people. Do you know, Lexa? Can you help me understand? Tina asked desperately needed answers and hoped Lexa could help.

I dont know if I have the answers you are looking for, Tina. All I can share with you is what I know and what little your Bette, our Dran, was willing to share with me.

Could you start with why you call her Dran? Tina looking confused.

That is what Bette is known here as. She purposely keeps herself away from people and the people that did know her, knows her as Dran. I am the only person that Bette has told her real name to. I called her out on it. I told her that I knew that Dran wasnt her real name. We have become good friends and she has shared a lot of what she is feeling with me. Shes in a lot of pain. So much pain that she felt she had to leave everyone that means something to her. She needed to find her inner strength and she felt she couldnt do that where she was at. She said there were too many distractions for her to begin to understand why her life became so screwed up. Lexa tries to explain.

I know that the last time we saw and spoke to each other, I really hurt her. I just didnt realize how hurt she was by my actions until she was gone. Why wouldnt she at least call Kit and let her know she was alright? She chose to close herself off again from everyone. Whenever she feels hurt, she puts up these walls of hers and you cannot get through them. I just hate it when she does that. And thats exactly what she did when she ran away.

Tina, dont take this the wrong way but she felt defeated! What she did cheated on you was unjustifiable but what you did, bringing that woman to the party and letting that stranger tell your WIFE that you were pregnant was the last draw. She felt like you not just took a knife and stabbed her heart, but you hated her enough to take that knife and twist it around her heart to make her hurt more. You simply showed her that she didnt deserve to be part of this babys life. You really wanna know why Bette didnt call anyone. After that night, Bette said that she felt she didnt deserve anyones love and be part of anyones life. Most of all, she felt that she was not worthy of the love of YOUR baby! Lexas words stung Tinas soul. She felt like Lexa had poured alcohol into an open cut. Tina finally understood what she had done to Bette. The reality of it began to sink in and she started to sob. The one human being that showed her and made her feel so much love, she had hurt. How could she have repaid her in this way? Tina could not make sense of her actions towards the soul that has given her so much.

God Lexa, how will I ever make it right with her. How will I ever make that pain go away for both of us!

My dear girl, all you can do is talk to her. Listen to her and the pain that she is also going through. Its just not your relationship that broke up, it was also hers. You have been given a second chance so take it. Do not give up on her. Youre going to have to convince her that she is worth itthat she is a good human being that deserves to be loved and most of all, to be happy. None of us are perfect, but honeylove is proven most when it is shown when that love one of ours is not perfect. When our love one messes up and we see beyond that– that is what real unconditional love is. Its not going to be easy but I am sure your family is so worth it. Do you think your daughter will ever understand if she misses out on having Bette be part of her life? Lexa takes Tinas hand and squeezes it. Tina just nods in agreement.
