Hi there. After watching the last episode of season one of
The L-word some ideas came up in my mind and I decided
to write down my thoughts concerning the relationship between Marina
and Jenny.
Well this is what might have happened after Marinas call to
Jenny

Happiness seems just one call away, Part 2 – Marina story

It was 3o clock in the morning. She took the door handle and opened
I needed to see you, Jenny heard a familiar voice saying. It took her a moment, before she could look up. She stared right into Marinas face. Sorry to wake you in the middle of the night. But I really had to see you after what happened yesterday. Can we talk?
Jenny swallowed hard, but no voice left her throat. While searching for words she realised a change in Marinas face. The look on Marinas face was very serious and it looked as if not
long ago tears had stained her beautiful lines. Yeah, umh, we can talk, just not here, she whispered after a moment of hesitation. She remembered the two sleeping figures inside and was reminded that she herself wore nothing but a t-shirt. I put something on, itll take just a minute, she added quickly and slipped back inside, closing the door behind her. -What am I doing now? She comes to me and what the ***** is there left to talk about? – She thought to herself. Jenny put on a skirt, that hung over the chair next to her writing desk. Her eyes wandered to the copy of the published version of The demons that tempt you.
Trying to be as quiet as possible she put her slippers on and saw Gene moving under the sheets. It seemed as if he were moving in his dream, but didnt wake up. Jenny went to the door and hurried to close it behind her. The night was warm and under different
circumstances she would have written in a night like this. So full of inspiring sounds, a bright clear sky and comfortable. Jenny looked out for Marina, whom she then found waiting some steps ahead.
She approached her quietly and together they wandered to the nearby street.
So what do you want from me in the middle of the night? What is there still to talk about?
Jenny asked and the anger build up since her visit to Marinas house with Francesca took hold
of her. Now with some distance to the house she couldnt calm herself anymore. Marina looked at her and it seemed as if she were thinking hard how to respond to these words.
But instead of answering she chose a different approach. Did you get my call?, she asked quietly.
Of course she did here Marinas words on the answering machine. Jenny nodded, yes, and what? You think I come back to you just like that?
Marina couldnt help but smile over these words. Jenny was so brave. I broke up with Francesca. I was a coward, not to tell you what Ive been feeling for you.- But why on earth did you date Robin, then? Couldnt you just tell me before what you feel, without playing with anyones emotions? I was there even waiting for you and you didnt say anything. I ruined my relationship with Tim, just to find out that your girlfriends coming back, Jenny said, tears forming in her eyes. Marina was moved, but felt herself forced to answer. Jenny, you always say only how I might have hurt you. This is so easy for you. You dont even think about the way you have hurt me, by telling me that you didnt want to see me ever again. But you only see your own hurt. Ive been loving you right from the start, but you couldnt decide whether you wanted to stand up for your feelings to me, a woman, or not. You did not pay attention to what I was feeling, did you?
Jennys anger was washed away and her mind was racing. Yes, she had been selfish and were
thinking about her own emotions and her relationship with Tim. She was overwhelmed by all the emotions going through her head. She looked up and met Marinas gaze. I guess I have been selfish. And after a while she added, but this is still everything so new to me. You are my first woman. How am I to cope with all this at once, when I could never even think about anything like this before. Marina took a step towards Jenny, but not yet touching her. So you are still angry with me? Marina asked hesitantly and her eyes were met by Jenny.
Before Jenny could answer she heard steps approaching in the dark. Jenny, is that you? a male voice asked. Gene came up behind them and then stood next to Jenny looking angry at Marina. What are you doing outside Jenny? I woke up and I didnt see you. So I figured you had gone out to catch some fresh air. Yes I did, was all Jenny could answer. Marina looked at her and both understood that there was no time for talking right now. And who are you, by the way? Gene said and looked at Marina. I think well talk later, alright?Marina said, going away. No wait, Jenny said and gave an angry sideglance to Gene. Gene this is important. You can go back to sleep, Im fine. Please. – Youre sure? he asked. Yes. Jenny answered, with her eyes on Marina, pleading her to wait for her. Alright then. Gene said and went back to the house.
Marina, I think we should talk now, Jenny approached Marina, who had gone away some steps down the street, but who was now waiting for Jenny.
