Mrs. Officer – (Chapter: So We Meet Again…)

After spending about five minutes searching for a parking spot, I finally found one about eight rows from the building containing the class from hell. Now don’t get me wrong, I love Photography, but Mr. Adams could be such an asshole. I’ll be lucky if he even let’s me into his class room considering his no tolerance policy. Mr. Adams speech from the first day of class played through my head as I raced to the entrance of the Fine Arts building.

“There will be no tolerance when it comes to tardiness. If you are not in your seats by 9 o’clock sharp then you will not be attending class for the day. I don’t care if I have to shut the door in your face. Oh and believe me I will. And if a nose or two happen to break in the process, it’s your problem not mine.”

Now at first I, along with all the other sophomores, thought Mr. Adams was full of crap when we heard his little tardy spiel. But it wasn’t until we met Derek Miller, a returning junior, who had failed the course last semester that we began to question Mr. Adams so called “scare tactics”. Now, no one has actually ever asked Derek about his messed up nose. My classmates say they don’t want to be rude, but I think they’re just scared to find out the truth.

I cringed upon the thought of having my nose broken by a door or any other terrible things that could happen to me for being late to one of Mr. Adams classes.

As I played out all the possible scenarios in my head, I began to notice that it was awfully quiet in the hallway. Usually there’s a flood of students rushing about trying to get to their classes around this hour. But no, not today, today the hallway was so abandoned I could have whispered and heard my echo. Let’s just say the sooner I reach my classroom the better, because I was beginning to feel really uncomfortable.

“Spencer, relax and quit psyching yourself out.” I told myself as I continued walking down the hallway.

The sound of my heels clicking on the tile floor filled the silence of the empty hallway and in away brought me some comfort. That was until I heard the faint sound of footsteps not too far behind me. I whipped around quickly, but only to be met with more emptiness.
