We Were Just Meant To Be – (Chapter: 12 – Our Last Summer)
It’s the last week of summer and I decided I wanted to re-decorate my bedroom; I picked a colour and painted my room with help from my mum but then I decided I didn’t like it so I picked another colour, this time my mum wasn’t going to help me.
“Oh good evening Spencer, how are you today?” I said on the phone to her.
“I am fabulous. Now what can I do for you?” Shit, she’s got me sussed.
“How d’you mean?”
“You don’t speak like that to anyone, let alone me, now what is it?”
“I painted my room…”
“Right.”
“I didn’t like it.”
“Obviously.”
“I have another colour.”
“Great.”
“My mum isn’t going to help me this time.”
“Of course she’s not.”
“Will you?”
“Yes.”
“Beautiful. Be over early and don’t wear anything nice.”
“I’ll try. See you in the morning.”
“Alright, bye.”
“Bye.” Sorted, I better get to sleep or I’ll never get up in the morning.
I’m lying in bed with my eyes still closed and I feel something stroking my arm. I don’t even have to open my eyes to know who it is.
“Is it early?” I asked.
“Yep.”
“You’re on time.”
“You said ‘early’.”
“How long you been here?”
“Not long.”
“Go to sleep.”
“Nice try. Come on, up!” She demanded and she slapped my ass and jumped off my bed. I bounced out of bed too and chased her.
“Hey.” I said as I tugged on her hand and spun her around.
“Yeah?” She asked as she looked me square in the eyes.
“Good morning.” I smiled as I placed a kiss on her cheek and pulled her in for a hug. Then I ran away to the bathroom to have a quick bath. Walking back into my room Spencer is sitting on a chair reading a magazine.
“I don’t know why you insist on having a bath right before we’re going to paint.” She says to me not even looking up from her magazine as I begin to get dressed.
“Because I like to bathe.” I say to her matter-of-factly. She’s fully aware of my obsession with baths and showers, sometimes having three a day.
“Right let’s get this started.” I say as I hand her a paintbrush and a roller.
